Hi Kerrie, first of all you're not a pain! Please ask as many questions as you need to - there will always be someone here to help. Your health and your family come first. I would suggest that you contact an IP, who will be able to talk through your options with you. I would recommend contacting Melanie as she has had a lot of positive comments on this forum.

Take care, you will get through this x

Hi Kerrie
Have a chat with several companies and a good starting point will be the ones that post on this site.
You are on your way to sorting out your debt problems, wether it is an IVA,DMP or bankruptcy.
My advice would be to pay your secured loans and utility bills and get them upto date before you pay your unsecured debts.Do this whilst you seek a professional solution to your problems.
This forum, and the many people on,it will be here to help you down whichever path you take.

Hi
I agree with 7up4it,s quote "I am so glad I have done something about it, admitting to yourself & your partner that there is a major problem is only the beginning, it does get easier & you become hardened to it, believe it or not most of the creditors want to help you too"
Often admitting that you have a problem to yourself and your family IS the hardest part of the whole process.

Hi Kerrie

If you go bankrupt basically your creditors will be informed by the court and the Official Receiver.

If you have surplus income then you will have to make payments to your creditors.

This is a complicated procedure and there are some very good blogs explaining what happens.

Despite what people say there is a life after all this and there will be many people following you with the latest financial problems in the City!

Kerrie

If you are declared bankrupt, you effectively do not have any creditors any more, so that worry is taken away and the Official Receiver will deal with them directly.

Once you have decided that bankruptcy is the best way forward for you, you can stop paying your creditors, and may need to do so to be able to raise the £485 Court fee.
