I was with them and they were ok, but there were a few errors in my proposal which I stupidly didn't pick up on until too late and these led to my IVA failing.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

Hi Kerrie,

We currently have five client reviews for Accuma at IVA.com (as well as a lot of reviews on other firms). We also maintain a list of IVA firms and IPs.

We recommend that you look at several firms before choosing which one to appoint.

Good luck with everything. Please let us know how it goes.

Kind regards,
Terry Balfour

Hi Kerrie

Please try and breath deeply, whatever there is, and it feels like the world is up agaisnt you right now, there is a way out of it. Firstly, I have been through the IVA scenario with Accuma and NR were a major creditor. Accuma were nice enough but it wasn't until right at the end that they told me (after going backwards and fowards with paperwork) that because NR were a major creditor my IVA would be rejected. NR are a problem as they are tending to reject most IVA's that come in front of them. I would if I were you, look at it as objectively as you can (not easy I know) and think OK I need to pay off this debt. For the moment leave out your family if possible as they are not your main creditors i.e. will not be on the phone to pester you!

Work out what you can afford to pay back realistically, you are going to be out of work with your back, and you won't want the stress of having to find money for IVA payments every month even if NR were to agree to it. And because you are out of work I don't think this would be the best option for you. If you can figure out a way of doing a DMP given that your debt is not that bad (I owe 60 grand) then that would be one way forward. The other way of course, is to consider the Bankruptcy option. Skippy is a good person to talk to about this having gone through it. I know you don't want to lose your house and at the moment i don't think that is even in the equation, what you do need to do is to sit down with a pen and paper and work out the pro's and con's of your options. Get a glass of wine if you can and take a deep breath and be really honest about what you need to do. I found sitting down and seeing the figures written down to what I could spend in my budget every month a real eye opener. Because believe it or not you are on benefits this will stand you better stead than someone that earns enough money to clear an IVA every month.

Hope that helps - as everyone has said, we are all in the same position, and understand what you are feeling, rant, rave and if you need us to support you we will!

hi kerrie i would also like to welcome you to the forum, you have already been given good sound honest advice by the regular posters, like the others have suggested read the posts and shop around, if it is a DMP that you want to go into i would highly recommend myvesta, i used these personally and they are a free organisation with DMP's after my iva was not accepted these really helped me through a black spot before i went BR, unfortunately you have NR as one of your creditors and they are rejecting a high percentage of iva's at the mo, what is the percentage of your debt is owed to the NR unsecured element?

i really wish you well and hope you find some answers soon, be brave and take deep breaths you have already taken the hugest step by admitting you have a debt problem and need help, all the forum posters will be here to give you guidance.
take care
kerri

DMP's work that you use your disposable income to pay something off towards your creditors but it is not legally binding like an iva is, some creditors will freeze interest for 6 months others won't and will still torment you, if you have low debts its a good repayment vehicle, other companies take a cut of what you pay, but myvesta don't so every penny you pay them go straight to your creditors, you can use this as a stepping stone until you decide if you want to go for an iva or BR.
or with low debt as a managed way to deal with them.
good luck

Kerrie

I understand as I have been there myself, just stop paying the non secured debts for now (loans and cards). Make sure you work something out for the secured debts (utilities etc) Even if you cant pay the utility right now, speak to them, explain that youre struggling and work out a plan.

Remeber you are a little bit closer today to sorting things out as you were last week. As each week goes by you will be that much closer and you will feel better for it.

Its too easy to panic, I used to want to hide away in the early days and I did cry almost daily but I am much better now, you will be too.

Take care and good luck for tomorrow, please let us know how youre doing.

Hi Kerrie

People do not have IVA's rejected if their mortgage is with Northern Rock - only if they have unsecured lending with that creditor, and not every time!

Can I suggest that you revert to an insolvency practitioner for proper advice, as on the forum we only see a brief snapshot of your case and are unable to really give full advice.
