it wont prevent you getting an ESTA/VISA for the USA however you do have to pay for it online using a credit card, It doesn't ask you for any information regarding finances only convictions things like that :)

As the others have said it's achievable and more enjoyable as you know you have paid for it in advance and won't have to see the interest piling up on the card afterwards!

What you put away in contingency or as gifts say for holidays are yours.I heard years ago you get an allowance for holiday when you are B'rupt.

So I guess creditors wouldn't allow that allowance in an iva makes your question even more relevant...

Indeed a separate I.E allowance should be permitted holidays for iva people.
All it takes is a boiler or car breakdown to eat into spare cash.

We haven't been abroad for at least five years. Since entering our IVA we have managed the odd long weekend at a B&B, Travelodge or Premiere Inn.

But our children are now asking if we will ever go abroad again. Over the Summer their friends went to places like the Dominican Republic and Orlando.

One day...

Yes mole...splash out on the surplus cash...get out of that iva straightjacket.

The deceased famed comedian J.Rivers once said that people often say to her...'money isn't the key to happiness.'She however responded by saying...when you have enough money you can create THE key to happiness. Too right.

Spending too much= lots of happiness

Feel no guilt in going into huge debt.Creditors can talk to the hand.Happiness cannot kill you.

I lived in Norwich for a while many years ago and also spent time in Suffolk. I was at many a home game at Carrow Road and always felt completely at home and at ease [despite being a Leeds fan myself].

The Broads are a beautiful part of the country and I would highly recommend Cromer crabs. Anyone thinking of a 'staycation' would be well advised to give East Anglia a go.

Must admit I'm very happy living here in Norfolk although I did stray into Suffolk for a few years. Good place to raise children too. Like you I am a big fan of the Cromer crab.

I was pleased when I read what Michael said to. It is nice to hear someone say this as I do think we are sometimes forgotten in Norfolk and I thought of as boring.

I love Cromer crabs to!

I have to agree about the friendly folks in Norfolk . We went to sheringham a couple of years ago & it's the most friendliest place we've ever been to aswell as being a lovely little town.
There's so many lovely places to visit in the UK,...Ok,, our weather may be unpredictable but I it can be abroad aswell!
Just before our iva we took the kids to spain in the summer hols & it was 48 degrees!!! #9728;#65039;#9728;#65039;#9728;#65039;It wasn't safe to go out!! The following year,,,camping in Dorset - rained out- #9748;#65039;#9748;#65039;#9748;#65039;-
My biggest bug bear is the outrageous increase in price for any of the school holidays- camping by far was the lowest cost option for us & it did give us some really good holidays!

Thanks for all the lovely comments about Norfolk folk, I think you can guess why I live!

Back to the original post you can have lovely holidays without spending to much. I used my Tesco vouchers to have holidays although unfortunately they have cut them back now.

I agree about the cost during school holidays and I also think it is sad that it is such a crime to take young kids out of school. I know some people will disagree but I really don't think it hurts primary school kids and a holiday is an education in its self. It is not always possible for people to take school holidays together and of course there is the cost. By all means take some school work with you.

That's my view anyway.

I agree totally with you about school holidays. There is always opportunity to learn when on holiday either on the journey or with different cultures being experienced. My granddaughter was allowed leave when we went to Guatemala but we had to fight for her leave and yes she did learn lots and experienced how the not so fortunate lived.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

It is so wrong. Not even to mention quality family time. Yet my son has come home with the option of going on several school trips some costing 1000 and more within term. Whats the difference - none
