I have just signed Step 1 with Payplan and am about to write to the creditors. I have had an individual arrangment with them all for a couple of years but can no longer afford the repayments. I am worried that one of them will contact my employer, as in the past. Fortunately I intercepted that letter :-) This is a big worry. What should I do?

hi

we have been in a iva since april, it did take about 4 months to be set up because of the amount of creditors and nr being a large creditor too! however in all of that time only 1 creditor contacted me at work once and that was citi cards!

that was one of the reasons i always answered calls at home so that i could put them in the picture and they would not contact me at work and it seemed to have worked!

you could always tell them if they contact you at work they could be jeopardising your employment and ask them to remove your works number from their records!

good luck, i know what a worrying and stressful time this is but hopefully you will soon have a iva in place and will be protected!

keep posting and let us know how you get on

There should be no reason for Payplan to contact your employer at all. I am assuming that you are switching from an IVA to a DMP?

sorry flutes dragon!

i misread your post and mistakenly thought you were going into a iva!

are you trying to go into a debt management plan because your cicumstances have changed and you cannot afford your iva payments?

I have never given out my works number to any of my creditors and none have ever contacted work, either by phone or in writing.

I never answered the phone to them either (cowardly I know!).

It sounds as though you are well on the way to that creditors meeting and after that, they can't contact you anyway.

Good luck

Having read it again, I think Flutes Dragon is possibly going from DMP to IVA as he/she says that they have had an individual arrangement with them all.

Is this correct Flutes Dragon?

Thank you all for the input. I made individual arrangements with my creditors a couple of years ago but £££'s get less and pressure increases, hence the IVA option. The thought of still paying for 10+ years is too much. One of my creditors contacted my employer previously. I understand this can be reported to the Office of Fair Trading, but then the damage has already been done! [:(!] My job would be at risk if they knew about the IVA. But, chin up, I have faced worse. It is good to know there are more of you out there. And as for frugal budgetting, well, nothing can be worse than it is now. Anyone any ideas as to how to produce cheap fuel???? I am female by the way! Be safe all of you.
