Hello all
I'm new to this forum and not sure if anyone out there can put my mind at ease. Have been browsing for a few days now and realise I have done everything the wrong way round. Iv'e filled in my details on line on Saturday, got a phone call on Monday, received paperwork on Wednesday sent it straight back with all my paperwork, they phoned me on Friday to let me know they received it. Have paid initial set up fee of #469, been told to cancel my DD's which I have and opened a new bank account. It's been a busy week!! After all that I found this site and it seems all the advice is to shop around first. Iv'e been on the iva.com site to check out the company I'm with they weren't on the list. They are called Debt specialists.

Hi and welcome.

Its not too late to ring them and ask them to return your paperwork if you feel at all uncomfortable with them. Ask them also to refund your money as they havent really had to do that much for you at this point.

They are not IPs but are probably a firm of finders who have links with an IP firm. If you are not happy with the service your money should be returned under the "cooling off" provisions. Take time to research IVAs fully - and you can always go back to them if you feel they have ultimately offered the best service.

Thanks for that, I'll hang on in there to see what happens, they did say someone would be in touch with me soon. Probably the IP who will represent me. I'll keep you posted. I think this site is great. I felt quite alone until I found this site and realised I wasn't.

I did my IVA through a firm of "finders"

Just remember the finders are not the people you will have to deal with for 5 years (that will be your IP) so dont decide too much based on how Debtfinders have treated you!

My finders were super nice,so chatty and ultra helpful..a few weeks later they handed me over to the IVA practitioners and didnt want to know after that!
