I know its not exactly the best place to post, but need some out there advice!

Most know i work for tesco as a dept mgr, i was in a new shiny store working hard, career on track to senior mgr. Things where going really well, i had to transfer to another store to keep things on track. Never been happy in new store and career feels like its on hold. Im not going anywhere at the moment everything is about fixing the store as its broken. Its an old store 30 years old and some of the staff have been there just as long so winning minds over and all that.

Had a call yesterday from my previous boss, he has a job at my previous store if im interested, my mind says go back and just enjoy life, feel like im letting people down. Really don't know if i should go back.

Is it wrong to go back?

If you're not happy where you are then why not go.back? No point being miserable at work if you can avoid it.

Just make sure in your own mind that it's what you want to do. Perhaps go and have a chat with your old boss first.

Wait and see how you feel after you've spoken to him.

I hope you get it sorted. When it comes to work I think you should do what's right for you and not worry about letting anyone down. We spend too much time at work as it is so it's important to be happy.

Everyone is right in that the amount of hours we spend at work we need to be happy as we possibly can be. Speak to your boss and I think you will know from that which way you are being pulled. Just remember that sometimes when you are in a place that you aren't really happy you can forget the bad things about the last store and only remember the good parts. As long as you are not jumping from the frying pan into the fire go for it. Now and again we have to be 'selfish' and do what is right for us and not everyone else.
If the people in your current store are so against change then they will be the same who ever is there.

Sx

Was odd walking into my old store, never been grabbed hugged by so many people in such a short time, i purposely don't shop in stores after i move on, felt odd walking back in.

Had a tea and chat with my boss, he offered to sort out my pay a little, told me he would want me to lock into a contract of 6 months so i didn't move to another store. Then admitted he would have to pull some strings as he went about things the wrong way, but i agreed i want to go back, so all in the hands of the group PTM. Hope its not a long drawn out transfer!

Sounds like you've made the right decision for you at least if you are tied in for 6 months, you'll have some stability.

I'm sure you'll be happy back there[:)] My hubby is a retail manager and moves stores a lot, on the rare occassion I shop with him it takes forever to walk around due to the hugs..just as well I don't get jealous [:D]

Good luck antm x
