Well done admin - some of her coments to others (not this thread) could have impacted them in a very serious manner when they were not in the right frame of mind ... freedom of speech is one thing - kicking others when they are down is another.

indebtforever has posted some unhelpful comments (which have been deleted) and has had their membership placed on hold for a cool down period.

Just to clarify:
This forum is to help one another through difficult debt times. Posters are to remain courteous and polite to others at all times. If someone has issues with other posters or views then these issues are to be put down without bias and without slandering other posters.

If someone has a complaints about another poster then they should contact andy davie direct. Further complaints about other posters will be removed. Persistant offenders will have their accounts put on hold. This applies to everyone.

Sorry for the serious tone and hopefully we can all put this behind us.

kind regards

I appologise if I have offended anyone with my post. That was NOT facts about DMP's. It was an attempt to undermine louby loos chosen course of action. Almost mockingly.

I am not usually an aggresive person and I would never post anything deliberately controversial. I was still quite upset about an earlier post by Emily and allowed it to spill over here. I have learned from that.

I dont think there is such thing as freedom of speech if its obviously going to upset someone, we all know the pro's and cons of BR, IVA, and DMP's. I shouldnt have posted what I posted and admin rightly removed it. I was angry and I didnt care.

It will never happen again.

Everything else aside, well done Loubylou, keep thinking positive and remember; advice, you should always listen to it - but you don't have to take it. It's good to see that people are looking out for negative posting.

I am new and don't normally post on these pages but did see the Emily blogg that was deleted. My wife is a solicitor and used to work for the Citizen Advice in Leeds mainly on employment law issues. She tells me that dmp plans are temp' solutions in debt resolution as you are not legally protected from creditors action. IVA and Bankruptcy orders are legal protections. For those not associated with working in the business the Banks are now actively promoting DMPs so to avoid writing off the debt in their loan books in the mean time. In an IVA it is automatically written off according to accounting rules. It suits the Banks business plan to deal with debtors in this way in meantime - hence the apparent decrease in insolvency this year

There is so much Banks can write off in any business cycle before it become a red nose day.{No one}would encourage any one to go on a dmp for more than 3 years unless you can pay the debt off in less than 3 yrs.

Supportive and qualified advice given in these forums is important but also must measure up to a legal recourse which DMP solutions are clearly not.

I understand where you are coming from 2012, if you could do a IVA in 5 years why would you want a DMP lasting longer if you could not pay it all off in the same amount of time.

From my own situation, my debt would have taken around 10 years to pay back under a DMP If I were to pay into it the same monthly IVA payment, if the juice is kept running it would have taken even longer!

At least if you could have a IVA you have a set realistic finishing date.
