I am currently in the process of entering an IVA, what I would like to know is will this affect my son's credit rating, he resides with us but does have a different surname to me (first marriage). I would hate this to affect him as he is 20 and very financially astute and just this morning been talking to me about the benefits of changing credit cards! Needless to say he knows nothing of my situation and I don't want him to. Do they search the address or the person when performing a credit check?

It should not affect his credit rating, but if it does he can file a notice of disassociation from you at the credit referencing agencies.

Hi Isthereanend
I have just read your blog it is brilliant. I know just how you feel about the kids, I have 2 girls 15 and 12, I have told them so they understand what is going on. My eldest wants to go to university in 2 years time I have explained to her that she may have to take out a Student loan to pay for it and I can help her after our iva has finished.
In fact as i read your blog, it could be me !!
53 down 7 to go !!

Hi isthereanend
Are you happy with your proposal now and has it gone back. What is your I&E like for the 4 of you. Is it going to be tight or are you going to be confortable.[:)]
How are you going to budget and run you financies. I have been playing around with excel for sometime now and trying to sort the best way of doing it. Maybe we could compare notes !!

Hi Carol. Sorry for the delay in replying. My proposal is fine a few anomalies but nothing major, it's all signed and ready to return but I've messed the money up a bit for the first payment! I transferred the money from one account to my new cheque account on Sunday and still not arrived there! Not worrying though as I'm sure it will be there soon! ...she says sitting with fingers crossed! Thanks for your comments re my blog, I try and write a bit now'n'again as it helps me. I'm hoping the I&E for my proposal will be fine, obviously won't be living a life of luxury but I won't miss that bit as I've never had it! I've already done my spreadsheet Carol for the year to end of December 08, this kind of takes over my life I'm afraid at the minute, once it's accepted I'm sure I'll be able to relax providing it's a positive outcome. Keep in touch Carol as I did follow your journey with interest and it's always nice to have a friend to talk to who knows about your situation as we've told nobody.
