The absolute worst is when you've got no money and no food in the house! I always try to keep a few dinners in the freezer now...it's not a lot more expensive to cook two portions of curry or stew rather than one funnily enough.
Thankfully that's not happened to us, which is why I like to keep the freezer stocked.
It is always best to cook more than you need initially then at least you have a choice.

cc received 6th January 2014 now upwards and onwards
We've always got plenty of chilli and spag bol in there. Always make sure we top up on the meat as well so we've got something to make a meal with.
It's steak and home made chips tonight!!

Had a look at the cccs 2010 budget guide lines on google and yeah it does make an intresting read.
Our budget was done by the cccs with our IVA being with them. Comparing what we were given and what their guide line is i would say ours has been set nearly to their max on most things. They have knocked off a few pounds off one or two things but generaly it has been fair. Although we have seen things steadily going up, food, and petrol has been the biggest increase for us.
Luckily i have been able to save a bit on petrol by using my motorbike, but that will end pretty soon with the weather changing.I think like its been said loads of time on here before you really do need to set your budget to truly reflect what you are spending, or its always going to be a struggle.
If you do need to spend more on fuel, or shoping is more because of dietrey needs just make sure you back up all your claims as much as you can, one of the girls at the ccccs did say to me that its important that we are not struggling as if we are then its not going to do either party any good.
Well Kallis, not all of us seem to be as fortunate as you, I like to go to all the different shops, I find it very mundane to shop in the same shop on a regular basis and like to go to different places to have a good variety. And as they are all quite close together it is no big deal.
My cupboards are never empty too, my kids love it when I first shop as there is so much choice for them to take for school lunches. I strongly believe it saves me money in the long run. It is very hard to go shopping with two under 12's on a weekly basis, with a budget as you do tend to put in alot more bits, and it is hard having to say no.
Very true Plasticdaft, there are always bits in my fridge or freezer but sometimes I have to be in the mood.
Thanks Baldy for the advice, if I find that things are on a trend of spending more I will certainly keep my evidence and produce it for proof.
I actually find that I spend more if I use a lot of shops. All the major supermarkets and some of the smaller ones are close by but with the discount it makes sense to use Asda.

We seem to be spending less now that we're only going to Sainsburys (although it's a little more expensive) than when I was doing a shop at Tesco and then a top up at Sainsburys. The more shops I go to, the more I spend!
