Hi all
I had my meeting with Melanie yesterday and everything went well, however at the weekend someone hit the car whilst it was parked!!!!

Someone witnessed it and called the police, got the reg number and everything, however the police went to the owners and they sold it to travellers a few weeks ago. To top it all off it was used in a crime in the nearest city on sunday!!! GREAT. Not only now have we got to try and find the excess for our insurance company, but premium will go up next year as will loose no claims.

At least my meeting with melanie went well yesterday!!!

Sorry to hear about this Zoe but if insurance goes up increase on your expenditure I would have thought. Also I know it costs a bit more but we always have protected no claims if poss that way in these situations you dont get the increase. Still all else looks on the up so concentrate on the positive.

Sorry to hear that Zoe. That's the problem with cars - they always cost money! My car went in for a service yesterday and it ended up costing £526 - luckily my mum was able to pay with her credit card and she'll be getting my car maintenance money for the foreseeable future! I was lucky though - I put Tesco petrol in a couple of months ago just before the contamination story broke. The car was running a bit 'lumpy' aferwards and last week the emissions warning light came on. Vauxhall must have taken pity on me as they changed the sensors under warranty as they couldn't prove it was the petrol - it would have cost another £500 if they hadn't!

Good luck with getting your car sorted out Zoe x

Thing is have to find the excess money asap! GREAT!
As Michael says though, even if they are found do we want to challenge them based on the people that they obviously are!!!

Zoe, I don't know if you know but there is an organisation called the Motor Insurer's Bureau which might be able to help if the driver is untraceable or uninsured - www.mib.org.uk.

Dave was driving into our road last Tuesday and the van in front of him stopped, so obviously Dave stopped as well. The guy in the van then put it into reverse, and reversed into Dave, even though Dave was tooting him! Dave's car goes into be repaired next Tuesday, but he's got to find the £200 excess, and be without what is his work vehicle for however long it takes. He's a handyman and needs a large vehicle but has been told by the insurance company that he will probably get a Vauxhall Corsa! He got a letter from his insurance company today saying that they had been unable to contact the other insurance company, and we've got our doubts as to whether the driver was actually insured, as he ran off and got his mate who owned the van. Could be a tight month next month - £200 to pay out and limited work for Dave!

Good luck sorting your car out Zoe.

Onwards and upwards!!!

Hi all
Just an update
The Insurance company have called to say cannot find the driver so it will be loss of excess and 2 years no claims discount.
We have taken the car for an estimate and are now waiting for authorisation - thank god our car is drivable.
Just got to try to find the excess now!

Oh Zoe, I'm sorry to hear that. Dave had a letter from his insurance company and they are having problems with the other insurance company - the accident hasn't been reported etc etc. They collected Dave's car yesterday and he has what I have been referring to as his Noddy Car - it's smaller than my Corsa! At least he's got a car, although it looks as though he'll be paying the excess, and I don't know if he's got protected no claims...

Good luck with getting yours sorted out Zoe - there are some really horrible people out there who don't care about how their actions affect other people.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

Someone tried to break into mine, they rammed something into the lock and all around it, I really think they might be trying to steal the car as it would have been so much easier to break the window. I do not use the lock its remote locking, I have nine years no claims and have just changed insurance company, it must be the only place where I have a 'good' name. I dont want to lose this nine years and can not afford to have the lock repaired at the moment. I am begining to become a little paranoid and feel that if I were to stand in the street, the clothes would be removed from my back and a syringe would be inserted in my veins. Why dont these scumbags go out and get a loan? I mean job?

They'd probably find it easier to get a loan than a job! Seriously I'm so sorry to hear that Lily, you've had such rotten time recently. I hope things are looking up for you soon, and you as well Zoe xxx

Never mind, I am not that bothered about the lock, its the crow bar sized hole under it thats bothers me more, (I have kept it so nice, on the outside anyway)I will leave it for now. On the positive side they didnt get to nick it, the swines. The thing is, I was going to post to you two, but I got kicked off and could get back on. I know its no joke but I was thinking of something along the lines of hmmm you two are bad luck I am going to stay away, lol, that'll teach me, eh?

Lets hope our cars dont fall victim to any more scumbags and lets hope we all get them fixed up soon. I really would be sunk without a car.

As you know keeping the car was my main worry about BR. I haven't had a lot of luck with cars over the years - they have either given up the ghost on me, or in the case of the nicest car I ever had I went into the back of another car and wrote off both of them. The other driver turned out to be an uninsured, drunk, Latvian illegal immigrant who was deported the next day! That one cost me a fotune! If it wasn't for cars I probably wouldn't have been in so much debt - my first loan was taken out to buy a car!
