Hi
As being at the mid point in our IVA hubby and I were discussing today what we would like to do to celebrate when it's all finished and done with.
We have both agreed we would like to go on a 3 week holiday road tripping around the states. It's something we have always wanted to do.
I know this could be expensive but with potentially £900 per month freed up (IVA & CSA payments) we feel we could manage to save enough to do it in a reasonable short period of time.
I am aware that alot can happen in 2 and half years but having a dream can help you get through it.

Has anyone else got any dreams or ideas of what to do when it's all over?

ours should finish this year but hopefully with yr 6 agreed in lieu of remortgage our iva will complete next aug after 6 long years. we decided we would book day off work , go for a meal and bttle of champers.... then we said we would take the kids on a nice hot holiday in october . we have then decided to try and save for 12 months and then chop our cars in . we have a scenic and multipla 02 and 03 plate . not worth much but we would like and audi estate as family car and mini cooper for me him !!! not brand new but a few years old . we also said never again to the credit card, big loans . have got used to being tight so i hope it can continue . but we will see when the time comes . but that is how i would like things to happen anyway . maybe champagne ideas on beer money but it is something to strive for.

It's nice to have that dream to keep you going.

I plan on taking myself, hubby, 4 children and 5 grandchildren (at present) somewhere warm and all inclusive. My treat as I don't think I'd ever do it again and they've been so understanding since we've been in an IVA.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

That certainly sounds like a plan Molly. A newer car would be nice (we have a 12 yr old ford escort), would like a scenic as had one before and loved it but we'll see. Holiday 1st :)
No credit cards or loans for us either. I'll keep my fingers crossed Molly that you get everything you wish for.
That sounds like a lovely idea Lesley, what a lucky family you have.

I know I'm not in an IVA but I do often think what I'm going to do when my IPA finishes. Sadly most of the extra will be accounted for straight away - my mum lent me the money to replace my car so I'll be upping the repayments to her!

barb , if my dreams come true u can have my scenic !! mind it has 90k on clock , typical scenic problem where boot button has fallen out. cd player works when it feels like it . but i must say i do love it. its also had a lot of work done last year to keep it running ,3 misdiagnsed porblems that cost £800 to find it was faulty fuel injectors !!!! but it runs a dream ow and rightly so . its good to have dreams , keeps us going thru the bleak times . !!!

I know! I also feel that I've got to pay some back to Dave - ever since we've moved he's paid for things for the house as I've had no money. I've kept a note of most of them, so he'll be getting some as well.

Then it's all mine!!! But of course no doubt by that time the car will need replacing again! I'm hoping I might be able to get a Golf next time as I like the new ones - another thing to add to my list!

For us the 1st March see's us reach the half way stage of our IVA. That in itself is a landmark and one I did not think we would get too easily ! It has been tough some months, but very rewarding !
When it's all over, which for us due to inheritance that is due, will be this year...I intend to do two things .......the first a two week all inclusive holiday somewhere warm, and the second set up a direct debit into a savings account for £1000 a month to save for a mortgage for the next three years until all is removed from our files....by then we will have got £36000 deposit and also had £300 a month extra to spend....£300 a month extra is more than what we need and I don't intend to spend it all !

My little girl will six when my iva finishes and im planning to take her to disneyland ! I think she will be the perfect age then. Also i'm going to buy my wife as many new clothes as i can buy as she hasn't said a word about her threads and i think she deserves a little pampering now let alone in five years time !!!!

Oh to be able to save £1000 a month - I'd be having more than one holiday!

No way will I be able to save that much! I shall still be paying a hefty mortgage and a secured loan.

When I retire I will be going on an exotic holiday, and intend to live life to the full without overspending. I will have had enough of scrimping and saving.
