when is it too late to enter into iva

just wondered if there is a cut off period when it is too late to start an iva , as have not paid creditors for at least 4 months now so defaults have started to arrive and collections people contacting every five minutes who i have been avoiding to be honest.

Even when someone is made bankrupt an IVA can be arranged

thanks, so the fact that an iva can take several months on top of the months i havnt paid shouldnt make it to long a time then x

Can I ask why it is taking so long for you to decide what to do? Paying nothing to creditors and not advising them of your intentions is bound to result in more chasing lettersa and calls.

to be honest ive been putting it off because ive been scared of there reation and didnot want to deal with it and secretly hoping some miracle would happen and sort it all out - stupid i know .

Whose reaction are you scared about - your family, partner or simply the people you will take advice from. If you can talk to us on the forum, talking to a professional will be no more difficult. Try a couple of different firms to compare the quality of advice, and you will get more confident every time.

sjw ... talk to a professional, they are all very understanding and non-judgemental ... bite the bullet and go for it and make THAT call. You will feel so much better, I can gaurantee it. You could do a lot worse than phone Melanie's number.

That first call is a big step and can be daunting as you are admitting your debt problem. It is a very hard call to make, but it does need to be done asap.
It will not go away by itself though and the quicker you take action the quicker all the calls and letters will stop and you will feel happier.

Strongly disagree with Melanie on the point of "try a couple of different firms to compare the quality of advice". Sorry you are wrong!

As you probably are not a specialist I would strongly recommend you seek advice from an IP professional on the forum.

This is such a critical decision for you that you simply can't trust the decision based on your first impressions on a company. You will see many posts describe how the provider has changed after you sign.

There is one IP on this site with over 10,000 posts ( not sure if she sleeps!!!!!!) and the multitude of personal recommendations from professionals and current clients is clear.

Please don't risk something so important to your life.

we called Melanie and they are so helpful, we are going through the process now to try and get an IVA in place. That first call is such a relief, even though debt problems are still there, the feeling of actually attempting to do something about it, really does make you feel so much better[:)]. In a funny way you seem to get a little pride and self respect back[:I]
