Hi
dont pay any money out now You are on the way to the IVA if you pay them it will just get swallowed up and its better if you take the money out from the bank and put somewhere else As when you get going with the IVA you may need a little extra to tide you over You are basically in a mess now so you are dealing with the problem I did the same I kept paying a little bit while the IVA was sorted but from what I have read in here I should have not bothered and paid a £1 to each
Regards the phone calls All you need to do is call them and say you are starting off getting an IVA and tell them to take your number off there Databases under your data protection rights if they argue say that All then need is your address to send you letters etc So thats 1 problem less Any letters you get the post them on to your IVA company they deal with them even before you get your IVA running
Another thing I was told when I was starting out was I asked what happens if I am not accepted they told me dont worry even If they say no we will find another wway So dont think you are going to get left by the wayside Theres always another choice and if your Debt is not super massive and complicated and you can see your way to pay lets say about £250 to £300 a month back I would say you are going to be accepted
stay strong and get your paperwork together and get another bank account opened that you dont own money too as you need 1 for your IVA
I'm sure you will be fine Ruth, let us know how you get on with CCCS on Monday when you speak to them.
Remember that we are here for you.
AS regards phone calls, despite me telling them not to phone and deal by letter, they continued to do so. If you have online accounts with any creditor then go in now and remove your phone number. Otherwise they will call.

Hi Ruth,
Each IVA proposal is unique and the setup timescale is dependant on individual circumstances and responses from creditors.
I`m with Melanie`s company and from initial contact to creditors meeting, my IVA proposal took twelve weeks. I was asked to send my first months payment with my signed proposal, so on acceptance, I had already made my first IVA payment.
I chose to stop paying creditor commitments as soon as I initiated IVA proceedings, I`m glad I did as the contingency fund I built up was soon needed to fund car repairs and appliance replacements.
I wrote to and phoned all my creditors to inform them of my intentions, and requested that they contact my IP regarding any further correspondence. Two of my creditors (Barclaycard and Halifax) totally disregarded my communication and embarked upon a campaign of telephone bombardment.
As has already been posted, ask any questions you like on the forum.
Rest assured, you`ll be fine with Melanie and her staff.

I am sitting here looking at the phone, I want to phone CCCS and cancel my DD for my DMP but I am so worried about doing this. It feels like such a big step.
Dreaming of the day that I'll finally be debt free!
Just be honest and tell them the truth. You arr going to have to cancel it when you have the iva.
You could always cancel it with the bank and then email them if you don't want to speak to znyone.
