I am going for promotion again at work and it does seem a lot more pressure for not much more money to be honest but I can't stay at one level all the time I have to challenge myself build upon my current skill set and knowledge and go forward looking up at new experiences.
I love the peace of mind that bills are paid each month without having to panic about it
I was a senior manager before but stepped down, my current role is challenging but i keep being pushed into the bigger role, as they know i can do it. I think the only thing holding me back is i value my time away from work and i know once i start progressing again, its game over for anything outside of work. There case is they need to promote within and im the strongest player, so naturally im the first to get up the tree, but it doesn't interest me, and its took the last few days away from work to realise that. Maybe one day i will be interested again, but at the moment i have a great team under me, all of them i hand picked and i feel i have to look after these guys in there new role, when i progress one of them into a bigger role then my job is done.
Wish you the best of luck with that matey, helping others develop provides great job satisfaction and helps you in your development at the same time which is always good.
We attend an evangelical church so everything is really relaxed. I was baptised (full emersion) when I was 16.
Talking of jobs, I went to uni and did a degree in sociology and english but I now I work for IT. I love my job, but I think I want to do something else. I work for a s housing association that provides accommodation to people with support needs (victims of domestic violence, care leavers, ex-offenders etc). but I just work in head office. I sometimes wich I could be out there in our projects doing something more worthwhile. But what I really want to aim for is to be a sign language interpreter.
I know some basic sign language but would love to get some qualifications and do my degree (yep they do a degree in Deaf studies).
Its now time to start living and to make some some wonderful memories!
Read my blog at http://flow13.blogs.iva.co.uk/ 'Aiming for the finish line'
I always wanted to learn sign language, and many moons ago the police used to pay for it, but by the time I applied they knocked funding on the head, so I never bothered.
It's awkward as well when you work shifts.
Good luck with your promotion application Dave. It's dead man's shoes in my office so I shall be stuck in the same position until I retire!
I also love the fact that bills are paid evey month and I don't have to worry about the postie coming or the phone ringing.

I know the alphabet in sign language which I know is not the same as being able to converse with people properly however I have had use of it when dealing with customers and victims etc so it does come in handy.
I would like to learn it properly in full but then I would also like to speak another language fluently. Where do I get the time to do all these things I want to do? I think I just have to win the lottery it's the best way me thinks
BTW loving the ticker you little ray of sunshine you

This is a great thread...love to read about other peoples lives....What keeps me going is my Faith....we belong to a large church and without the help and support of some amazing friends I am not sure we would have survived our IVA.!! Now that we know for certain that OH will be made redundant I am so grateful that we are a part of a strong community.
Other things in my life are my gorgeous hubby of 37 years...my grown kids and the amazing miracle in my daughters IVF pregnancy..!!
My pooch is also a favourite of mine and he lights up my life daily.....
I am so privileged to work with children and young adults with disability too.....
For those posters who wrote about sign language I have been signing for over 20 years now...we have a group of deaf people in our church and sign our morning meetings...I am of the opinion that signing should be taught in schools from 5 years old...kids can pick it up really easily....
IVA completed 11th Dec 2009 due to a Full and Final with the fantastic help of Michael Peoples and
Mc Cambridge Duffy
I also think that sign language should be taught to children whilst young. I also think we should learn other languages whilst very young as we pick up things so much easier then and it stays with us as well then.
I used to go to the United Reformed Church in Romford and we had a great community there and it is nice to be part of that so I know where you are coming from. It will be of great benefit to you throughout your life I am sure.
You mentioned your hubbys age 37 is he your toy boy haha
I can manage French to a certain degree, but that's all.
I do agree that other languages should be taught from an early age.

I think the whole world should speak English. Problem solved. After all, history shows we have fought and beaten every nation therefore we must be better than them and they should follow our lead............or is that not PC?
If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.
Funds paid to date accepted as F&F 16th August 2013, the wait for completion begins.
Wait over....certificate recieved 3rd May 2014
