My wife is looking to take out an iva due to her debts. If this happens will i be able to remortgage? Would it effect me swapping my credit card to a 0% deal. How will my credit score be impacted?

Is your wife on the mortgage with you ? Or do you have any joint accounts. If so you will be associated and the taint will spread to your credit rating and might be taken into account for future lending.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

I thought you were both going into an IVA? Maybe I misunderstood your other post.

As Foggy says, a financial connection will affect you if it exists.

You can check your credit rating online and see any financial connections there.

If you've never had joint accounts, credit cards etc... you might not be financially connected.

Hi

It is very likely that your credit will be affected due to association

Try to remove yourself from any joint accounts, however if you have a joint mortgage this will be very difficult

Financial association through joint accounts/borrowing etc (even historic applications) will all show up to lenders and may impact on your own ability to get any mainstream credit. It may be worth remortgaging before the iva and trying to sort any 0%APR card switches beforehand as well.
