Lesley, your support during my as yet early day's on the forum have been fantastic, and I have truly valued your advice and wisdom. T find out that you are also going through all this as well, and yet still helping others is just amazing. I know people say this but I truly wish there was something I could do to help. As an ex medical man I can tell you this; much as your Daughter wants to be independant make sure she doesnt overdo things too early on her road to recovery. It is far better to be irritated and frustrated for a short while now than suffer unessesarily 20 years from now. Right lecture over because if i'm honest i'd probably do the same as her! Take great care.

Sorry Lesley, just caught up with this again. I do hope they get her sorted out quickly - I can't imagine the pain she is in. She's lucky to have you to support her.

Sending you virtual hugs )))))HUGS((((( and you know where I am if you want a chat or just to offload.

Again thank you all, I'm going to visit her again this evening and if she is up to a shower she can have one, I did ring her earlier and she did answer, she refused her morphine first thing as she felt a little better, then had a set back which isn't for the forum, too much information but hopefully now they'll do this scan tomorrow. I'm going away tomorrow first thing to Manchester so won't actually see her until Wednesday evening but I'm sure we'll be in contact via phone if she's up to it. x

You know I'm thinking of you Lesley and if I can be of any help at all regarding meds, symptoms, just message me on FB and we can chat on there like last night. Hope you managed to get a bit of sleep. She needs you to be alert if only to carry that bag!![;)]

hi all, just a quick update, she appears in a lot less pain tonight so I'm guessing the morphine is gradually controlling the pain. I took her to the bathroom again and I think that's about the highlight of the day. I seem to have adopted the role of volunteer visitor/carer for the other 3 elderly patients in the ward too, makes their night I think me being all jovial and trying to be funny x

I'm really glad that your daughter is getting a little better, the fall sounded horrible. As I said on your FB, I don't know you that well as yet, but I'm really sorry that you've got such a lot of rubbish going on just now.

Maybe the reason we find this forum so supportive, even though we are relative strangers as such, is because we all know the one "big" thing about each other that even most of our best friends and family don't.

Thats so true Skeef. If someone had told me a year ago that I would be happily retired, debt free and have good friends met on the Internet, I would have laughed......

Whenever I am typing away on here, my OH assumes I'm on FB. He can't believe how helpful people are on here. I agree it's because we all have something in common and can rant away on here when we need to instead of bottling things up like we all probably did beforehand. Long may we continue!! When the interest rate starts to rise there will probably be a rush of new posters.

I've been in Manchester for a couple of days but managed to call in and see her for half hour this evening, no spinal damage it's actually a massive haematoma from the fall and it looks like it's rupturing so not good for her.

I will catch up on all the posts tomorrow but I'm shattered as it's been a hectic couple of days catching up with family x

No spinal damage is good news. Healing will take time but will happen.
