We have just received a PPI cheque. I'm not in the IVA so can I bank it and keep half ?

my hubby is iva finishes this month but me and hubby has just recieved a joint cheque for ppi,pp said they have to have the cheque to put in his iva but its half mine and i dont want them to have mine so iv told them iv put it in our bank to clear and will give them half when clear ,am i right to do so

I assume this is a joint loan, in which case, yes, I would argue that half could be kept. I assume you are still servicing the loan yourself, so are still making payments.
