Hi Scaredykat

Im new to this forum too but have been reading it alot over the last couple of weeks and I cry all the time when Im on here - a mixture of feelings really but Im so glad I found this site - I have absolutely no one to talk to about my situation and being a single parent I feel quite lonely in my situation and having to put a brave face on to my 2 young children - but we have a roof over our heads, food on the table and we are together so I am counting my blessings and trying to remain positive. And Im having similar worries to you but on here we'll all get through Im sure.

Hi ScaredyKat and Siler lining I just want to echo what others have said and say welcome. Once you make the first step and speak to an IP you will so much better. No one will judge you they only want to help. I didn't know of this forum when I started my IVA I wish I had the support and advice is 1st class.
Good luck and remember you will never be alone all the while you log on to the forum.

Hi,
You are much in my thoughts at the moment as I am at the same sage as you. Have faced up to the situation and have decided to do something about this. Today, I went and opened a safe bank account at th Yorkshire Bank, it is the first time in 30 years I have at to do something like this and was amazed at how scared I was!! I start my holidays in a weeks time and will speak to a couple of IP,s then and spend the week transferring direct debits. I am normally such a control freak and the fact that I have lost control of my finances makes me very angy with myself, however I think this forum is amazing and look forward to hearing how you get on. please do keep posting, and take courage

That's a great post nepensioner - and is the start of you getting back into control with your finances, perhaps for the first time in a long time. Very well done - and remember the first steps are usually the hardest ones to master.

Again thank you for all your thoughts and support ! My head is in a whirl at the moment, unfortunately someone is not going to get paid this month, just cant do it i have made my rent my priority and whateverwe is left will have to be shared...spose a few phone calls are on the cards, i hate doing that. Nepensioner, Im with you all the way, its an awful situation to be in but hopefully we will get there. I will certainly keep you all posted as to how i get on. I was also thinking about a new bank account but that would leave a huge overdraft on the old one, can i do that ???? hope everyone has a lovely weekend xx

Yes you can. I think most of us have done that. I know I did.

Good luck with getting an IVA sorted both of you.

It is great to see that you are prioritising some of your essential payments - ie rent and current utilities over unsecured creditor repayments. If you do have something left for the unsecured creditors, try and pay them all in proportion to the amounts they are owed, so as not to prejudice anyone.

Scaredykat, an IP wouldn't put a case forward that s/he wasn't confident would be accepted, obviously there are rejections and someone will come along soon with some reason an IVA may get rejected as I can't think of any off hand.

I used to look for the doom and gloom in everything but being in an IVA has taught me so much.

Today had to buy a new freezer and the satisfaction of knowing that I paid for this with hard earned cash of my own and not plastic was immense, now I've just got to build up my contingency account again. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
