Hi Everyone,
This is my first post. I have been reading your blogs which I find to be really helpful. It's regarding Grant Thornton & their closure process. We completed our IVA last payment on 1st Nov 2011. Back in January GT told me that all monies & it had gone to closure. Next week will be the six months after completion & I'm looking forward to receiving my CC. Well I'm just assuming it will arrive but having read some blogs it may not be the case. I must say we have never had a problem with GT.I'm registered disabled & must admit this waiting does put extra stress on to me. Six months is a long time as others close much sooner. I may send an email to Karol as I've noticed that she does pick up emails from the forum. Does anyone have Karol's details please[:)]

Hi vixster, it would be a good idea to contact Karol directly, she is a great asset to GT and is generally very good at communicating with Grant Thornton clients ( I speak through experience )
The email address is - ivacustomerservices@uk.gt.com and ensure that "IVA Forum" is all that is entered in the subject line of the email.
I completed end of Oct 11 with GT. I emailed Karol a few days ago to be told I should be getting my CC within the next week. Providing there are no complications with your case you should be very close behind me. Yes let us know how what GT say.
IVA finished Oct 2011, CC received 27 April 2012, No longer on Insolvency Register 01 May 2012. Jan 2013 - all Credit Files squeaky clean
Hi guys i was reading on your post vixster and i finished mine on the 29th of march and i also questioned why its taking so long after i was told it would take six months! i was told the following via email from GT.
The closure of an IVA takes 6 months to complete in order that all administration can be finalised accordingly.
As part of this process, Grant Thornton is required to complete a final review to ensure all contributions have been received accordingly, all Income and Expenditure reviews completed as required and all assets realised in line with your proposal.
Following this review, a final review of all creditor information is required - correct creditor details, Claim received etc.
Where claims are outstanding, we are required to give creditors sufficient time to complete a Proof of Debt form and return.
Once all claims have been agreed, a final distribution will be calculated and any remaining costs of the IVA paid.
The Final Report is drafted and passed for review. Once the draft report has been reviewed and returned to the team, a request will be made for the IVA bank account to be closed, and cheques raised for creditors.
On receipt of the Final cheques, they are attached to each creditors copy of the Report and posted accordingly to all.
The recent VAT tribunal caused some serious delays with out process, initially standing at 3 - 6 months. Unfortunately due to guidance from our regulators a hold was placed on closing IVA's until decided the impact this would have. Approximately 6 to 8 weeks after this hold was placed, a decision had been reached and closures resumed as normal albeit significantly behind.
If we are in a position to close your IVA sooner, this is our intention however our current experience deems the 6 month timescale accurate.
i still feel this six months is a way to long time span after the final payment was made, as you say not many other companys take this long!
oh and just a quick question for ladybird321 and vixter, since you completed your IVA payment have you had any other requests or feed back from GT during the months after your IVA was finished for any thing? or do we have to keep chasing them.
I've been a lurker for a while now and have found this forum so helpful [:)] but felt compelled to join as I am also waiting for my CC from GT. Last payment was 1st Sept 2011 so almost 8 months ago! Have had absolutely no correspondence from GT. I have had to chase everything for over a year now. It was only through discovering this forum and Karol's email that I finally had some answers. I was told my CC should be with me 5-10 days after 19th April as that's when they are paying my creditors. It will be a case of seeing is believing!
I'm very frustated with them as actually they have been in touch twice in the last 7 weeks trying to get me do use claims brokers to claim for PPi which I've declined. I also said to them that under no circumstances were they to pass on my details to these claims people but they did [:0] and I've been phoned twice by these people trying to get me to use them to claim back ppi. So disappointed in Grant Thornton.
Just wish it was all over now so I can put it all behind me[:(]
Although it must be a frustrating wait for all of you who are waiting for completion certificates, it is so pleasing to see that this forum is actually helping you to make direct contact with Karol - who I have to say is a fabulous asset to GT in resolving complaints. She must be incredibly busy at the moment, but does make time to deal with every single forum post relating to her firm.
Interesting to see GT confirm that they only actually stopped closing cases for 6-8 weeks because of the VAT issue.
From memory, Karol posted on this forum that GT were starting to close cases again at the very beginning of February.
So nearly 3 months later and they still haven't managed to recover from a 6-8 week hold on closing cases. They really can't have made too much effort in the way of drafting in extra resource or paying people to do overtime or they surely would have got on top of things by now.
It seems astonishing that a firm of their size has not been able to recover from this yet. Will they still be blaming the VAT issue for their incredibly slow closure times come Christmas I wonder?
Hi Matty182. The only contact with GT since completing in Nov was my call to them asking how long it would take to receive the CC. They did say it would typically take 6 months. Only then was I told about the VAT issues. But having read the posts from GT they started closing again in Feb. I am going to email Karol to see whats happening.

Well since the end of Oct I didn't hear anything until Jan when i received a copy of my Final Annual Report. When I read it i found out I had arrears due to an oversight by GT. They forgot to amend my payment schedule at some point during the IVA. Came a bit as a shock to me to see ARREARS in black and white to my creditors...lets just say I was very peed off.com at the time. If they had told me beforehand I could have addressed this there and then. That is my main gripe with them, other than than that I have found them relatively good during my IVA. Do I think 6 months is acceptable to wait for a CC, no I don't. Do I think they lack in customer communication on closures, absolutely.
Aprilia, what makes me smile is they have never approached me re PPI!!! and my CC is expected any day. If you look on the Post Subject 'GT Customer Services' I have cut and pasted my reply they sent me. I did ask them in my email about PPI as I hadn't heard anything from them and I did say not mis sold and had no intention to claim now and in the future. They didn't mention PPI in their response, sounds like the creditors fund distribution has already been sorted on mine.
