I had one and I had no problems with it. I think it's improved now as I read recently there is an option to pay a monthly fee to for unlimited usage. When I had it the only option was pay as you go.

i have the mycashplus one and it has been a godsend. they have also started a credit repair service which effectively loans you 12 monthly payments in advance and they report each month to the credit report companies that you are paying the monthly fee. i know its not alot but its a start to repairing the credit file.

This might be really silly but am I missing something here - pre paid credit cards are just that pre paid - therefore why put money onto a card and then pay to have the pleasure to spend it, when those of us in IVA's in the main have a Visa Debit card - even if it is electron/solo or maestro - sorry just don't understand the paying to spend your own money bit !!!!

Agreed for those who don't have the debit card option this might be an option to consider - but having been in debt and had to pay the banks alot of money on interest - I will blowed if I will pay for the priveldege of spending my well earned cash !

It's not always that simple Luluj. I didn't have a debit card at one point and it made life very difficult, and shopping on the internet impossible.

Yes paying to spend your own money is a pain, but if, like many people in an IVA or who are BR, you don't have a debit card then it's a solution.

Hi - no, you are not really missing the point. Some services however require a visa/mastercard. Booking a hire car for instance, so that's why one would be needed. Some offer payment protection too.

For me I will stick to cash and debit card - once bitten by the credit card bug and I do not want to go back there - life is so much happier ! I will rely on the credit card of mum if I ever run into the need !

I think the only pre paids card that allow car hire are the Cashplus and Stirling cards. I did reserve a hotel using my Virgin card though, and some pre paid cards say you can't do that.

So even pre-paid cards aren't 100% useable then !

the cards are no different to a pay as you go mobile phone - you can only use whats on them. i have used it for basically everything including car hire in florida and booking hotels. the only problem sometimes is finding somewhere to top them up if you need to use them in a hurry as top ups at the post office dont go on until the next day.

I don't have a debit card with my account, so the only way I can fund purchases on the internet is with a pre paid card.

I have a paypal one - I don't have to pay to spend it. Come Christmas I shall load it up so that I don't have to carry cash round with me whilst shopping.

I won't ever have a credit card again, but I think these are great.

Hi. What is the best all round Pre Paid Card. Can anyone give any advice. I have looked at several and some seem to charge fess where as others only charge a fee when the card is issued.

I have the Paypal one, which just has a 'join up' fee. I use it for shopping on the internet, and I like it.
