Hi Lesley! It's a difficult decision so good you have a few more days to think...everything has happened so quickly.

Would you consider throwing your hat into the ring just to see what happens? You can always decide whether to take the job when you receive the offer (which im sure you will).

From my experince of re-structures, people settle into the new world order surprisingly quickly and the part you are going through now is the worst. Once jobs are allocated and those who are leaving have gone people settle and move forward. I don't mean to sound insensitive..its probably a survival mechanism kicking in!

I hope you come to a decision x

You make good sense BOL. I think financially I need to apply. It will in actual fact mean a payrise (a grade higher) and two more hours per week. I'm a creature of habit as are a lot of us and don't like change, maybe I would settle but just feel very negative at the moment. x

Oh Lesley, I can imagine you're arguing with yourself over this! I took voluntary redundancy a few years ago and was scared to death, but it felt right and worked out for me.

I'm a firm believer in "everything happens for a reason".

If you want to talk it through tomorrow, let me know xx

You are in the classic head versus heart situation.

Change is difficult particularly when close friends leave. It must have given you itchy feet too!

Let us know what you decide x

Dave was made redundant from his last job and, although it was scary at the time, with hindsight it was for the best. His was 'voluntary' redundancy but he was told that if he didn't take it he would be 'managed out of the company'. He took the plunge and started working for himself and, although it's a struggle at times, he's much happier.

If I was you Lesley I would apply for the job and make the decision when you get an offer.

Good luck x

Well today they asked me to apply for two positions, mine and my colleague's and the coordinator role. I politely refused as the ten hours that will increase to 12 is enough for me in respect of teaching. Looks like I might be getting an interview. Hope they realise from today I'm on holiday for two weeks!

I did explain I don't want all my eggs in one basket as I don't feel the teaching post is as secure as my admin post. Would have been a nice earner but if in a years time I've no job at all I'd be no better off so I'll stay safe. x

Good luck with it all Lesley, thought I'd update on my position, we had a further meeting on Friday, the nurses who a re 2 grades below me all have to be reinterviewed and the ones a grade above have to be reinterviewed for their jobs as there aren't enough jobs left for them all, these interviews will be happening w/c 16th July, our forms all have to in by the end of next week at the latest and then depending on what we all say will depend whether we have to face interviews or not so it's still a wait and see, if I am moved to another area it will mean a cut in hours as the only reason I can do the hours I can now is that my manager allows me to work the shifts and days I want to work around my husband if I move elsewhere this won't be allowed so I just won't be able to work the same hours and will have to cut down by about 6 hrs a week.

I'm a little disappointed I have had no reply to my emails from Mel I sent a few weeks ago as yet, feel very much in limbo

I would resend the emails Lem to make sure Mel has received them? Adding a read receipt? Glitches do happen so it may be they haven't been received?

I hope it works out for you Lem and I know the feeling of Limbo well. Just done another mock paper and although I'm marking them myself that was borderline!

Bit more revision planned for later. x

we were updated this week too, it was confirmed that as from august 31st the trust in which i work are loosing 125 acute medical beds, they have stated there should be no job losses, however have no idea at this time, how or where they will redeploy us to, they intend to update us weekly, and thats as much as anyone knows at this moment in time, rediculous considering its less than seven weeks away.

IVA accepted 6th May 2011, Full and Final accepted 17th April 2012.
