I am on their mailing list as I like 'different' presents for some people, they send you a catalogue.

Nice idea but if I did something like that, my dad would think I'd lost the plot!!!!

I love the idea of matchbox cars I think I might pinch that idea for hubby as he is always saying when the IVA is over he will treat himself to a newer car.I would love things like cotton, pins and needles in my stocking as I sew lots and bits like that can be expensive when you are on a budget.

I see what you mean Jan my dad is 64 but he seems younger than me most days he's absolutely mad so I know he will enjoy opening present for present with his friend even though I have never and may never meet her! I have even dreamt about what she looks like how sad is that. I hope you enjoy the Xmas do wish I could be there

Dad is 83 and no way would either him or my mum like anything like that. It's not something I'd like either - a nice bottle of something or a cd or vouchers is more my thing.

I think the do should be a good one, certainly one of the best figures wise. Looks as though the weather will be kinder to us than last years was.

You go for it Oscar, don't matter what people think of you, you know your Dad best and this is giving you pleasure too. I only wish I had my Dad here to give a present too.

Well, I mentioned to my dad I'd done the stocking a few weeks ago for his girlfriend. I've had to bite my tongue since. He was totally irrationale said no way I don't want you to do that she'd just feel crap!

After two weeks I eventually burst into tears about it one evening at home. He's always been so insensitive and ungrateful. I said he could pretend it was from him and even wrap the things himself he actually said NO ABSOLUTELY NOT as if I'd done something really
wrong? B...dy idiot is what I was thinking to be honest.

Anyhow, if I'd handed it over mam may have struck me down so maybe it's just aswell. Also, today, I'm over it and I am really enjoying the contents for myself, Radox, Body Shop bits n pieces, Xmas mug, Slipper socks in pink with penguins on, Choccies, pastilles, fruit chews and Bacardi Breezer, not to mention the Sex in the City Perfume (even though it was really cheap it really is nice!!

Dad has to go for yet another biopsy next week (Cancer and all that going on - he is positive)He says he's going on his own despite the local anaesthetic and me being worried sick. Just wish he'd have the stomache to say he's taking his "friend" if he is that is as I don't mind who is there with him as long as he's not alone. He's even denied the whole thing to my sister and said there is no further biopsy!!???mmmmmm

Oh Oscar,

I've just caught up with thus thread and was thinking what a lovely idea. We've just got dad in law a sweet hamper full of sweeties from his era.

I'm sorry your dad reacted the way he did, may be his mind is in a bit of a spin with his illness.

You enjoy those treats and keep strong xx

I can relate to much of what you say Oscar. Unfortunately I haven't seen my own Father for 10 years - since he remarried. I think it was very thoughtful and considerate of you to compile a stocking and after all you were simply trying to build bridges. I truly hope that your Dad gets well soon and that you and your family have a lovely Christmas.

PS Pass us a fruit chew ;)xx
