My partner has just come in from work and told me has RESIGNED. He has been threatening this for a while but I didn't think he would actually do it. We are in the third year of a joint IVA. Does anyone knoe how this will affect things. What will happen with our IVA? will I be able to claim more Tax credits? I am really worried.
Sorry to hear that your partner has resigned from his job - it will obviously have implications on the IVA. You need to speak to your IP asap about this.
Have no idea about the tax credits - you need to speak to HMRC about this.
Hopefully he will find another job soon.

Sorry to hear about your news. I would ring your IP tomorrow and maybe arrange a payment break until your partner gets another job (if you haven't taken breaks). Can he sign on with agencies 1st thing - my hubby had a tendency in our early days to walk out of a job but give him credit always went to Manpower the next day to do anything til he found permanent work.
If your partner has effectively made himself unemployed, HMRC may not be too sympathetic about giving more tax credits. I hope his actions were for good reason as there are clearly implications for you now as a family.
You may need to get your IP to call meetings of creditors to negotiate a payment break until he is able to find replacement employment.
I really hope he knows what he is doing.... jobs are not that easy to come by these days, even for the well qualified. He has taken a big risk with a family to support. Hope he visits the agencies and gets something soon. My husband absolutely hates his work, but would never have given it up, without something else to go to.
Take the advice given and contact your IP as soon as possible.
