Sorry - another question. I was paying my car insurance monthly since before the IVA - I have 9 years protected NCD - previous repayments were £43.00 per month. They have put them up this month (start of a new insurance year) to £70.00 p mth - no claims have been made, when I queried it they said 'insurance has gone up' anyway my question is how easy is it to obtain new car insurnace - payable in monthly instalments when you are in an IVA thank you
You shouldn't have a problem with most companies. Always good to compare anyway, I often swap over my insurances to get the best deal and pay monthly with no problem. Hopefully you'll find a better deal that's a big leap. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
Thank you Lesley, I was a bit worried that they wouldnt insure me as in IVA so thought I would just have to stomach the hike in present insurance, thats a big relief[:D]
I've personally had no problem there may be certain companies that treat us differently as there are banks but not one I've come across as yet. It may Aviva but don't quote me on that, possibly won't let you pay monthly. x

You shouldn't have a problem paying monthly. I know it's not car insurance but I've just changed the pet insurance for my one dog, paying monthly and was accepted straight away.

Sorry, can't help with that one. I usually shop around - I don't use the comparison sites, just check out each company.

It's not credit by paying monthly as you pay in advance and if you cancel the payment your insurance stops.
There should be no problems paying monthly, although some companies like HSBC are really high on the comparrison sites compared to others so they must take the IVA into account and price themselves out the market.

Admiral do a multicar discount but I would check other places too,it may be cheaper to insure 2 or more cars seperately.
Just hunted for a cheaper quote for the wife and nobody comes near her current insurers. Thats 2 years now on both mine and her policies that our renewal quotes have been the best deals?!?

Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.

I went through one of the comparison sites recently and Admiral were horrendously expensive - getting towards £1000! I've no idea how they can justify that - I'm 36 years old with years of no claims and drive a 1.4 Fiesta!
I think it's gone up generally due to the number of accidents involving uninsured drivers, people making exaggerated personal injury claims after an accident. Plus the usual postcode lottery of where you keep your car overnight.
It would be interesting to compare quotes of someone who has been/currently or not done a IVA/BR in the same area, with the same no claim history to see how the quotes compare.

Shop around dixie. I change the insurer of our cars every year as now you can protect your no claim discount immediately with new companies. I swapped to Tesco last year as they were the cheapest and got a £50.00 Tesco gift card for doing it.
