My washing and ironing are done at the weekend - never do anything in the week.

I do like peas, but have to be in the mood for them, and there has to be butter on them. Leeks and onions are my favourites.

Love pork chops - especially the crackling!

One of my favourite treats is to visit an Indian Supermarket a few miles away as their spices are always so much cheaper than normal supermarkets. I always get some of their tinned or packet curries - genuine Indian, not expensive and they are to die for.

I work in what they call an ethnic based store, we do all same range as some of the bigger indian supermarkets, some of the range is just awesome, im loving the sweet stuff we have down the world foods dept, and we have a Halal meat counter as well, i have to audit the guys on there, they do a mean chicken dressed in a curry mix, i just stick in the oven and absolute quality. Some of the ready meals are loads cheaper than our own brands but taste so much better.

I must admit I would never knowingly eat Halal meat.

The curry I buy from there is vegetable based. I would never, ever, touch halal meat.

I used to have a very sweet tooth, but could never cope with Indian sweets.

I do worry that the Indian we go to uses Halal meat but Dave pointed out it's the cheapest one in the area so it's very unlikely.

Not that we do many take aways, but I never thought of that!

Having googled it though, it would appear it is Muslim and I don't think any of the places we use are Muslim.

I think I might check in future though!

You wouldn't believe the complaints we get about not having a "proper butchers" as our customers call it, but i know there ways are different to our western ways but are ours any better, battery farmed chickens etc.. end of the day the animal has still been killed.

The guys on the counter cut beef in an awesome way and have some serious skills with a knife, only snag is they don't sell pork! some of the things we do like the fruit juices and coconut water etc.. i like to try something at least once a month just so i can tell our other regular customers that actually the food is good.

I don't do battery farmed at all, and I have a problem with the way animals are killed if it is halal. I used to work close to a halal slaughter house and it is not nice.

I think I shall steer clear of this thread now - I have my opinions and I could very well end up arguing and upsetting people.

I would never buy a battery farmed chicken either, and I think caged eggs should be banned - I think it's disgusting that Tesco still sell them as Sainsburys don't.

You don't need them modifying, it is your opinion. I do feel strongly about the rearing of meat and poultry and the killing of it.

Asda still sell battery farmed stuff as well, and everytime I see somone pick it up I want to shout at them!

No offence taken ant.

No worries, you've not offended! You have got me on my soapbox though and I feel a letter to Tesco's head office coming on about battery eggs!
