Hi,
My sister entered an IVA just over 3 years ago. With loans from family she settled this early in March with the creditors agreeing to the lump sum offered - now paid. She has had a letter confirming that the variation was accepted but should she also have a certificate of completion? We keep reading about this but the IP says there is no other paperwork due to her. Is this right? We just want to make sure everything is signed and sealed as it should be so that she can relax!
Thank You

Hi,

She should have a certificate of completion as she will need this to send to the credit reference agencies to make sure her record is marked as satisfied.

She may find that she has been speaking to office staff and not the IP. She could try emailing him/her direct and can find their address here:

Stupid me! I didn't copy the right link!

Sorry about that - you should be able to contact your IP via this link!

Thanks. When you say notify credit agencies , what do we do, who do we notify and what do they need? Sorry to sound so vacant, haven't a clue!

Sorry about the misunderstanding on my first post!

First of all, order a copy of your credit record from all three agences: Call Credit, Experian and Equifax. Check what is says. Send a copy of your certificate off to them asking them to mark it as satisfied.

If any of your creditors have put defaults on after the IVA was approved, write to them and tell them to remove them. They cannot leave them on there.
