The local council will not always help out if you have had your home repossesed particularly if you could have used different options to stop the repossesion. The council can conclude that you have made yourselves intentionnally homeless and as such this will discharge thier duty. However I must stress that it does depend on individual circumstances and different councils can have different approaches. Local councils are a good point to go for advice if you face losing your home as even if they can't do something to help they will usually give sound advice on what options are available to you.
