I find that really strange as others have opened the account I am sure during the early stages and not everyone is with freeman jones. They said the reason was because you are with another company, it was the managed account

Should not be the case craig, that is what the account is for . I just rang them to ask about this and the giel just said they are closed and to ring on Monday, which i am going to do. I am going to check as that is not fair i wonder if you got someone who wanted to go home ? Do you want me to check it out and give you a shout on Monday morning.

Ok Craig as long as they are going to ring you back, then not a deifnate no. They have no problem with iva's or bankrupcy. Maybe just the wrong person at the wrong moment. let me know how you get on.

Hi,

Try Nationwide and ask for Flex account. It is the basic account and you have a cash card. Don't mention anything, just say you want to open a new account and say where it goes.

Have your utility bills ready or any identification as normal.

Best regards,

Maria

You do not have to tell them that you are proposing an IVA and I,like Ang,are surprised.
I think that you have just got the wrong person.
They do launch into a bit of a sales blurb when you apply but just be persistent and tell them that you just want to open an account and nothing else.
They market the account as the account for everyone.

I recently opeened a new account with Lloyds-TSB told them that I was going in to a IVA. I had a meeting with the bank manager who told me it was not a problem. Have allways found Natwest to be a very good bank ( hope I will be able to say the same after my creditors meeting). I have left some money in my account and when I checked the other day it was still there.
IVA completed

Hi crg

I am BankRupt and walked into a local branch of Nationwide, explained my situation and 10 mins later I walked out with a new flex account number and sort code. You have to apply in the branch and cannot apply via telephone or internet, just need your passport or driving license.

Also try the Co op, they are very good too. Basic cashminder account. I had no problems in keeping this account, they were very sympathetic. Again apply in person.

Both banks are very pleasant to deal with, offer internet banking, D/D & S/O facilities and better still they do not charge for the accounts.
Hope this helps

Pippa
