Meeting Date-How long?

Ive recently had my IVA proposal put together and have just recieved it today, once ive had a good read through it im going to approve it(as long as everythings ok)and send it back to my IP. Does anybody know how long it usually will be till the creditors meeting? Is there a standard time you have to wait?
Any info would be greatfully recieved.

I sent mine back at the beginning of november o6 and my meeting was about 3-4 weeks later. The creditors need some time to look at the proposal and make their decisions. I think there is a minimum time they have, Melanie will know. All the very best though hope all goes well for you.

Hi Nic, I sent all my paperwork back and had to ask them to hold on until I had finalised my new bank account, which took longer than I thought!! from giving them the green light to proceed after the bank account fiasco it took 3 weeks for the meeting.

I got a northern rock basic account set up a couple of weeks ago with just a cash card, but its proving to be so awkward as my local branch is in town and they dont do internet or phone banking its not practical for me to be popping into town everytime I need to go to the bank or speak to someone, so last week I applied online for a HSBC basic acc as they do online and telephone banking. I have been accepted and am just awaiting my card, does anybody know what these two banks are like will they querie my IVA standing order or potentially close my account? Any help is greatly appreciated I am a constant lurker of these boards and have found much support in reading through all the info!

From reading posts on here, I learned that HSBC can cancel accounts to people in IVA's
I used the Co op bank pre IVA they do debit card and online banking, also armchair banking.
I did have a little trouble opening the account due to their lack of communication but all ended well and has gone great ever since.

Once your IP has received your signed proposals, they need to give at least 16 days notice to the creditors - but some firms give 21 and others 28 days, so it will be down to your own particular firm's policy.

You will need to organise another basic account as HSBC and first direct have a policy of closing accounts of customers in an IVA.
They will give you notice,probabaly 28 days,so no need to panic
