Happy November to all you wonderful forumites... I am not sure what balances out here, but with all the changes for me right now, it appears that fate keeps control...

GOOD NEWS: I eventually got my HR letter through for redundacy and received the cheque immediatley...
BAD NEWS: As they wrote my name very badly spelt... I contacted my bank and have agreed to process the cheque with supporting documentation and covering letter... As I do not have high street banking, it was posted off today... Not bad for a company that has employed me almost 8 years!

GOOD NEWS: The cheque was valued as expected and am to expect extra pay in leiu of notice that I did not expect, and will be paid in a couple of weeks (hopefully with right name!)...
BAD NEWS: They found all sorts of reasons to make deductions from it, so will have half missing!

GOOD NEWS: I have received confirmation for new job and start Monday 5th...
BAD NEWS: Uniform will not be ready, so I have had to go out and buy similar outfit until all kit sorted... was not cheap!

GOOD NEWS: I got my car back after 3 days in dock due to the "TerrorDrive" Sunday...
BAD NEWS: It has caused a chain of events in the car that require hundreds of pounds more work to be done!

GOOD NEWS: Looks like great payments into my account over the next few weeks...
BAD NEWS: Looks like it will all be swallowed up with car repairs, bridging income for working in hand for new job and for IVA arrears... Will not be any there to suggest F&F... !!!

But... Might be able to afford a smile for Christmas?

I was wondering that as the payment in leiu of notice that will follow, is part of the redundancy payout status; would it remain untouched by IP as with the actual redundancy amount, or treated seperately and accountable for the 50% bonus clause?

Pasted here from Question Thread to be deleted...

PILN is compensation for you not having received proper notice from your employer of your impending redundancy, and simply covers your salary for the number of weeks to which you are entitled. It is therefore a salary replacement, and will only be subject to 50% uplift provisions if you walk into a job straight away - or before the projected notice period expires.

Hi Gordon
Great news on the job and the money. Although my HR head comes on here - what have they found to deduct? Are they lawful deductions ?
Bad news for the car though.
Won't you get reimbusred for the "temporary" uniform ?
Just a note on on PILN - this is paid when an employer does not require you to work during your notice period. If you did not receive the correct notice from your employer of your pending redundancy etc then compensation is a whole different ballgame. Failing to cover the statutory basics in redundancy makes the redundancy an unfair dismissal due to lack of process. I suppose you just want to put the whole affair behind you though. Good luck with the new job.

Hi Sharon, thanks... In answer to your notes in sequence...

Deductions from the compensation PILN are for holiday pay they say I have over-claimed... I could dispute that slightly, but as you say putting behind me now... This deduction represents 1/3 of the payout... then of course is the tax etc.

I think the car knew I was gonna get some money in, so it decided to ask for some personal attention!

As far as kit is concerned, it is not as in a uniform I have been used to as it is quite casual, so I will be able to use it for my social purpose, even if it is not a style I am used to... As far as reimbursements are concerned, I will ask when I have started... Maybe some kit will be there by Monday, but I was advised to be prepared in case not.

I understand about the PILN as you mention and indeed as Melanie has noted and really was quite clear... what was not clear was how it related to my IP... As Melanie says it will be considered for 50% to IP as if income if I had started before or immediately after redundancy deadline, otherwise is as compensation WITH the redundancy clauses, which is good to learn. On the other hand, what is considered as immediately after? I was let go on 31/10 and start new job on 5/11... It is not the next working day, so I would not consider it immediate, but I may stand to be corrected on this. I will of course sumarise the figures and word very carefully when sending updates to my IP, but I don't want to add the extra amounts to the safe pile if I should be expected to fork out the 50%.

I have just received my latest payslip for 2 weeks just gone... and this really puzzles me... In all the years working for the company and always fighting and chasing money and not getting answers... I requested last weekend off (2 shifts) for the purposes of time off with pay under the terms of redundancy regs... they never answered all my chases to find out if will be paid and if both would be covered... WOW, shocked, amazed! ... Now I am let go, they are paying me unexpectedly without ANY errors!!!

It really feels like I am in the money, but in reality that is false... It is all gonna be dissolved inside the next few weeks. Still it is serving a purpose I suppose.

Hi Andy
Glad to be of any assistance. People on this forum have enough to worry about without the hassle of employment related problems. I have been on both sides of the same coin with good and bad employment experiences and if that helps I'm happy to do my bit.

Gordon - it always makes me laugh how you can work for a company for years and there are always errors on your pay. Then when its comes to your last pay they get it right - it's almost like the payroll clerk is saying the least she/he can do is get the last one right !!
By the time you read this you will have done your first day - I really hope it went well, first days are always nerve-wracking.
Sharon

Just reading back some of the old posts that were missed left open ended... thanks Sharon, the day was not too bad, but now, after nearly 18 months, I am aching to dig myself out of this job and get a real one where there are not so many people that are just so ***!!**^^^
