My heart goes out to you Julie, I know exactly how you feel. I haven't been on here for a while because we lost our very loved girl. She got up one morning and collapsed, we rushed her to the vet who told us there was nothing she could do. It was sudden heart failure, no warning signs, she was her usual beautiful self right up until that day.
This was about six weeks ago and I haven't stopped crying. Our other dog stopped eating and became really depressed. I phoned the greyhound rescue people where we got our beautiful girls for advice, they told me to get there that day and get another companion, which I did.
We now have another angel who so very desperatly needed a home and our other girl has made a full recovery.
We will never be able to replace my wonderful Megan and I miss her every day but seeing Gem happy again has made all the difference and already I am totally smitten with our new girl.
I really, really hope that everything will come right for you. In my thoughts. XX
Lin

Thanks for your support everyone, my big fella is still here and acting so very very normal!

Lin.r, my heart aches for you. I cannot say I know how you feel because I don't, but I do know how much I am hurting at the thought if saying goodnight to Dobby. The shock for you must still be raw.

I hope your girls keep you going and thank you so much for taking the time to post, when this must have brought it all back home for you xx

An update on Dobby, he is still being his normal energetic, noisy and demanding loveable self!

His resting heartbeat is normal and he will have another scan in the next few weeks.

I am so thankful for every minute he is with us.

We have enjoyed a fabulous few days away in a cottage with Dobby, Lots of forest walks and walks to castles and abbeys! We treated it as any other holiday and let Dobby lead us with his fitness....needless to say we were begging to stop and Dobby was still raring to go !!

We are enjoying every second with our special fella and are looking forward to another break in the Brecon Beacons next week.

Well we have enjoyed a fabulous 2nd week away with Dobby and he really enjoyed himself. It did make me realise that we have wrapped him up too much back home by reducing his walks. He is at his happiest walking, so normal service will now resume.

We had some good news at last with Dobby, a visit to the vets last week showed the meds are working and they expect to see him again in 3 months. Given my boy had hours to live at the end of July, this is fantastic news,

I'm very conscious of others going through a heartbreaking time at the moment with their loved dog and my heart goes out to them.

Thank you Lesley, we know Dobby has a heart condition and every day is a blessing. If he is enjoying life then all is ok, until he tells us different.

Thanks everyone, it's the best news we could hope for but know he does have a condition. To have good news at the vets is a novelty for us!
