Oh bless you - but you are in a much better place now!!

Hope you didn't mind me saying that about you? It just worries me that people in genuine need and despair would be afraid to post their questions or comments if this forum becomes a 'professional jargon' or argumentative place.

We both agree kazza - potential posters may be put off by some agressive posts

I'm with you on that Kazza. I was unhappy that the posts were arguments against specific firms and really not relating to the basic info that posters were looking for. Having come out to the other side financially, I just plod happily along and whilst I need to be careful realise that my needs are minimal and I now only buy what I need..

I agree this happened some times, but i totally got the point tiger tried to make several times that seemed to be overlooked. Such as the ongoing GT issue, no one would really debate the evident terrible service many was receiving following final payment, surely it would be better if more on the forum called for change, GT may take more note then, instead it was multiple replies of 'Email Karol'.

I appreciate its great to have forum experts and IP's on here, but lets not forget this is also widely used by clients and members of the public, so why shouldn’t it be a public place for discussion about customer service? which firms are doing a great or terrible job?

I can understand why Tiger was so frustrated in many of the debates (after going back and reading many of them). When i spoke about those on the 'in' this is what i was referring to, all stock answers from the same people who wouldn’t really debate anything nor hold others to account! Instead often it was ticker tape parades and brass bands when a company did something good (im not saying this should be done) however the opposite was rarely done should a company not being doing as promised!!

I do think the forum should be a place for all and agree with artemis, too many times we see posters who dare to be slightly controversial in one way or another shot down in flames and that's totally wrong, I understand that we're all vulnerable when we're in debt and come here for support, guidance etc but by the same token, sometimes we need a jolly good shake and banging heads together aswell! softly softly approach in certain circumstances isn't always the best way to deal with things.

As for the experts on here, yes it's great to have them on board and they obviously give good correct advice and quite often are able to correct many of the other posters who often give wrong advice (myself included) which is valuable, but they again represent their companies who don't always get things right.

For me, the whole point of this forum is for people to anonymously rant, laugh, cry, debate etc etc whilst ensuring that we are still courteous and respectful to each other and differing opinions, I don't see there's anything wrong with that and I would certainly welcome Tiger back and be more than happy for him/her to contribute

I am in agreement with Lem & Artemis on the ‘Tiger,Tiger’ issue, and although I think that he had a bit of an axe to grind and was perhaps confrontational in some of his postings, I am not sure it was good for the forum to lock him out, as for me he added stimulus to each thread, particularly on the subject or should I say ‘debate’ of PPI, which I found to be gripping reading, like a good book you can’t put down without finishing. As somebody on here said, it was like Question Time, but with a panel of wordsmiths (OK – firebrands!!) like Galloway, Farage, Varsi, & Ashdown all in a lively online debate, real answers often emerge from this type of debate and not as Artemis rightly says, “all stock answers from the same people who wouldn’t debate anything nor hold others to account”, and it was noticeable that some of the regular contributors to this forum were caught on the back foot by TT’s style of questioning and had to give careful consideration to their answers – no bad thing !
It’s one thing being rightly locked out for profanities, but quite a different matter for being too smart!

Andy is the one who does the day to day running of the forum and he has posted that TT will be back later in the year as an expert under his own name.

Let's wait and see what happens then.

One point to remember .. this is a public forum and when a particulat company is constantly lambasted or accused of not doing this or doing that, they are entitled to redress.

Sometimes, as has happened recently, this redress is by threatening or pursuing court action, not only against the posters, but against forum admin and moderators.

So, while keeping firms on their toes, when things get too heated, great care must be taken where we tread.

Whether we agree with this or not is immaterial ... it is a fact of life we have to live with.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I think passion on a subject can only be a good thing as are differing opinions.
It is right though, that if Tiger Tiger is an expert, that s/he should post with name and picture as the other experts do.
I'm afraid I have found the forum cliquey myself, but I carry on reading and posting anyway as I enjoy it. [:)]
