It is hard but have a goal of your own - make plans for the year after your IVA finishes and then do a count down to it.

When we were in our IVA we always knew that the summer of 2012 was going to be a good one - 2 wks all inclusive in Lanzorote - big 40 this year for me so had a double reason to make it happen!

Each year we were in our IVA we used to go camping or would stay with friends....we had always managed a few nights away albeit in a tent or caravan....doesn't matter where you go in this country - it will be away for a few days !

The Sun newspaper holidays are a good option too and some posters have managed a couple of these in a year.

We have managed to have two holidays abroad courtesy of family whilst in the IVA. This year we had a wedding to sort and a new arrival due at the end of the month so no chance.

I'm afraid camping is just not for me at all - I'd rather stay at home.

Claws - sorry to be a pain but can you stop posting in capitals please? It's classed as shouting.

I hope you manage to get a break. I go see family in Manchester every so often and I know it's not luxurious but it's a break and although I'd love to go abroad for all my holidays it can't happen due to finances but a break with my family is a change from routine.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I do have family scattered around various parts of the UK but they are all very elderly and at least one is not compus mentis. Not an option for me.

I will be visitng a good friend later in the year for a couple of days so that will do for me.

We've not had a family holiday since 2009 and I don't suppose we will be having another any time soon and when the IVA ends my eldest son will be 22 and my middle son 20. so I don't imagine they will want a family holiday! Just a little sad but there is more to life than having a holiday x

We've not had a family holiday since 2005. We have been away but on our own which is the way we both like it now.

we are managing a few days away at easter to snowdonia with one of the sun holidays which we are looking forward to, and then hopefully camping later in the year, I don't miss going abroad at all and even if I had the money I would have no interest in going abroad this year, I'd really like to go to cornwall or the new forest/jurassic coast in August but it's just so expensive even to do that.

Footie, I was thinking the same the other day, although mine will be a it younger than yours when we're through daughter will be 17 and my son will be 13, I can't imagine our daughter will want to come on family holidays then!

weve grown to love camping! Post IVA were still planning lots of weekend away camping, i say camping but were more 'Glampers' now,we have electric, lights, huge tent (honestly....its like the Taj!!)

where did you go in snowdon Lem? were big fans of the national park and often attempting (yet again) to scale up it [;)] were quite lucky its only 2 hours away for us!

I must say arty we were camping long before the IVA anyway so it's not an issue for us anyway.

we love snowdonia, we stayed near Betws last year when we went but there is a gorgeous campsite we have seen on the edge of one of the lakes on one side of snowdon which we would love to stay at. I think we are staying near porthmadog this time, we also went up Cnicht from croesor last year, i love that little village, we are about 3 hrs from snowdonia though so a bit of a trek!

We have been up snowdon twice now, first by the usual tourist route but last year took the rhydd du path which was much nicer!

awww we have many happy memories of the rhydd du route, mainly becuase my other half fell over a rock and broke his foot there ha ha ha we had mountain rescue and everything lol!!

we did the odd bit of camping prior to the IVA (although mainly at festivals [;)]) but really got into it a few years ago and since we found go outdoors in wigan weve been murder for collecting camping gear!

What tent to you have lem? were rocking a hi-gear zenobia 6 at the min but we only put one pod up so its HUGE! we also now have the addition of a fitted carpet and the porch which makes all the difference (if only we had it the 2 weeks we were in cornwall in 2010 when it rained.....for 2 weeks!!)

The beauty of camping is we now have so many friends who'll join us for a few days or the week etc!

Arty *whose now dreaming of that site in Harlech they found last year [:D]

I would love to try camping but my husband isn't keen at all. Love Snowdonia, Cornwall and the Lakes not forgetting the Highlands of course. There are loads of great places in the UK but I do love the sun x
