I've bought my wedding dress!

I know it's early, but my mum has been told that she is now partially sighted and, in case things get worse, I wanted to make sure she saw it.

I had some luck with the dress - my friend is selling hers and when I tried it on I loved it, and she only wanted £50 for it, and £20 for the jacket! It will need altering and cleaning, but even with paying for that I've got a bargain.

I just wish the wedding was this year!

Well I've waited 13 1/2 years, so it won't hurt to wait a bit longer!

We got married 7 years ago-my closest friend married 6 months before me so she wore one of her bridesmaid dresses-the other 2 were also my friends so they wore their dresses.
Mine cost 60 quid from a bridal shop that was in liquidation.Hubby wore a smart suit out of his wardrobe.
We married in the local registry office-then on to our favourite local who laid on a huge day and night buffet with entertainment for free(their reasoning being they would make the money back on drinks)
We got a last minute deal to the dominican republic for 2 weeks 5 star all inclusive at 500 quid each;so in total the whole lot-including honeymoon came to less than 1500.
And everyone said it was one of the most enjoyable, relaxed weddings they had ever been to!!!!
Its not the money you spend that makes a good wedding-its the good friends and family!!!!
Good luck Skippy for your big day!!!
full and final accepted January 2015

iva agreed; August 2010
iva would have completed; August 2017
extra year thank's to NRAM

That's so true Andrea - people spend a fortune on weddings and it's not necessary.

We're getting married at the local register office and then onto a golf club for a buffet, followed by another buffet and disco in the evening.

I have told Dave that he will be getting a new suit though - he's got one suit that he's had about 10 years! His son is getting married next May, so I told him he can't wear the same suit! Surprisingly he agreed!

We're planning on going to Lyme Regis for a week after the wedding, and we're going to ask for honeymoon vouchers rather than gifts (I don't like asking for anything to be honest, but people have already asked me if we're having a gift list!) as we want to go to Florida the following year. We were planning on going next year, but that was put on hold when we decided to get married!

Mine and Mrs Wizz's wedding came to a grand total of £400 including honeymoon .... mind you it would have cost a lot more if we'd invited anybody!!

That's great news Skip - glad you've got sorted.

We got married in a registry office, my suit was out of a catalogue and we had a party at our house the following night. No honeymoon at all
