Hi Skip and Tori, What a terrible time you're both having with setanta, here's my rant!!![}:)]..Hate to say it but trying to cancel is bad as well.... In february of this year, 3 months before we started to look into solving our Debt problems, we stopped using our Credit Cards, just paid them each month to try and reduce the debt....Hubby had monthly payment from Setanta coming off his Capital One Card each month for the football and we decided to cancel..He emailed Setanta to cancel his subscription and heard nothing ...Meanwhile a payment come off his card so he rang Capital One to see if they would be able to stop the payments but they said they could do nothing about it and we would need to speak to Setanta..He rang setanta and after being kept on hold for ages, eventually a very snotty woman came on who told him that he needed to give a months notice before they would be able to cancel and that he would need to put it in writing...He did this and the following month, they took the payment again...we weren't happy by now as we were trying to keep the card statement clear of transactions...he rang them again and was told that they hadn't received our letter to cancel....he then sent them a letter by recorded delivery and another months payment went out of the account..When he rang them again, they claimed that they had received the letter the day after the payment was taken...therefore another months payment was due to them before they could cancel it off the system as they had only received 27?days notice instead of a month? to add insult to injury, they switched the service off with immediate efffect but still took the payment the following month......Good Luck Skip and Tori, hope you get better service but somehow I doubt it[:(]

xx

[:0]Crikey!! It just gets worse...Dm,that is dreadful-you must have been furious!! How can they get away with just taking money off people when they've instructed them not to!! It's daylight robbery. It does seem though that the only way to get through to them is to write to them and then send it by recorded delivery. It's outrageous[:(!]!! xx

Tori...we were furious at the time but to be fair,we never actually had any problems with the screen going blank at any time, unlike your poor OH..he must have been so disapointed and angry[}:)]...we were more annoyed at the fact that it took so long to cancel...it was more the customer service,or lack of it that was our problem...it always took ages for a reply and then most of the time, like skip says they didn't seem to know what they were talking about...hubby got the impression they were stalling us for as long as possible to see if we would change our mind as they kept emailing us and writing letters to see if they could tempt us to stay...hubby says he would never go with them again....On a lighter note, a colleague of mine bought one of the viewing cards? from Tesco as there was a Footie Match he wanted to see...he settled down with some mates to watch the match...and it didn't come on..he then spent over an hour trying to get through to customer services only to find out in the end that he had put the card in the wrong way into the slot[:I]..he was not a happy chappy though at missing game...[:D]

Hi DM,...Good Luck, hope you're more successful and it's nice to hear from you...Not sure why they've increased your DD, a bit naughty of them but hope you get it sorted out soon[:)]

I agree Dm,it is the poor customer service that really is the issue,as they just do not listen to what you are trying to tell them. And it does seem that alot of people are having the same problems with regard to them just taking the payments or increasing the DD without notification. And that poor bloke who put the card in the wrong way round must've been gutted!! Sounds like something i would do[:D]!! Drowning mummy & Ang-Hope you manage to get yours cancelled without any problems-Good luck[:D]!! xx

I've tried that.. can't remember what happened. I'm sure they offered hubby half price and he agreed.. I can't speak to them as its in his name!!!

Hubby worried as they have the away England matches on.. and he'll miss that!!

I've just rung up to cancel. Apparently they had no record of my contact through the website, the letter or either email! I've now been given December free and January, February and March half price.

I'll be keeping an eye on my bank account to make sure they get this right!

Well,it's definitely worth a try!! They're probably losing a lot of custom at the moment,so as soon as someone mentions cancelling they will be bending over backwards to try & keep them.OH is just going to cancel, cause he read an article yesterday in the boxing news,& it turns out that when a boxing match is taking place outside the uk & in the early hours of the morning they can't always get an extension to show the full fight. But they conveniently forget to share this information with their customers!!!

Skip,..great result and I agree with Tori, definately worth a try next March...At least for now, you've got a result but I too would keep checking your account to be on the safe side....Tori,that's disgusting what your OH has found out, don't blame him for Cancelling!!!No doubt they will try to get him to change his mind though[:)]
