I think it is a great plan Chelle, so long as you can sustain the payments and that everyone gets paid within contractual terms. Be careful not to prefer anyone in the early stages and then struggle to pay the creditors who are left behind - and with careful budgeting on your part (and a lot of self-discipline) I am sure that you will be debt free in a couple of years.

Good luck!

ok I'm going to play devils advocate here.

Habit is very difficult to break. Don't take this as a criticisim, but many of us, who become laden with debt, become obsessed by it, it dominates our lives.

The problem over the mid and long term, is knowing how to deal with this, and how to completely change your lifestyle.

Ask yourself these important questions:

Will I be satisfied with a cheaper car?

Are you prepared to tear up every one, and I really mean every one of your credit cards and not borrow again, for a long time?

Can you budget in a determined way, which will mean you having to go without many of the nice things in life, those speacial extras?

Do you really enjoy shopping, and have a tendancy to want now and pay later?

Would you miss reqular meals out?

If you've got doubts about any of these, then you should consider very carefully whether you can sustain your plan.

At the end of the day it's your call. I went over £60,000.00 in debt, and was certain I could do it myself. My partner and I earn £3000 take home between us, and after 18 months, just became exhausted by the whole experience. Perhaps you've got more determination than me.

Well good luck. I hope it goes well for you.
