No Emma, I'm glad you brought that up. I never really thought about it to be honest but I can see where you are coming from...

I was unsure about keeping up with the direct debits (although I am paying things off I'm having to live of my credit card... lunch, petrol.. everything!) so really I’m just going in circles if I carry on..

The thought of going bankrupt scares me, probably because I’m keeping it to myself rather than telling anyone at home.. (Still living with parents! too young to be moving out! ha!)

I can totally see where you are coming from though. Just received a letter from American Express saying my interest is going up... already £160 a month, with payment protection on top of that..I can’t wait till this is finally sorted!

I wish I had of found this website months ago before I got so worked up about all this!! It's just about keeping me sane! [:I]

Natalie

I am in the same position as you, no one knows about my iva.

I have not told any family or friends - not because I am ashamed but more becaus I knew family would step in and pay off my debts. I thought this was wrong as it has happened many years ago and I need to sort my own mess out this time and learn a valuble lesson along the way.
The forum is the only thing whish kept me sane during the proposal stage and still now I find it such a help and think I always will.

Be positive & look after yourself, there are more important things in life than debts....

Best Wishes

Hi Natalie,

I'm in the same situation as you and haven't told my parents...I was also scared to stop paying my creditors as I knew they would start calling and dreaded someone else answering the phone! However as soon as I started proceedings for a IVA I did stop paying my creditors and wrote to them explaining my situation...I did receive afew calls and plenty on letters but generally all my creditor except MBNA were very understandable.

Hope all goes well

Regards
Suze

Thanks Suze, everyone’s words on this forum are so kind

My parents are worried about me and my credit card and always ask if its all ok and check that I can afford everything but I don’t want to tell them as they would be so disappointed and would want to help me out but I don’t want to have to reply on them, or for them to think differently of me...

All creditors are paid this month.. (amex will have to be happy with having a payment £250 less than what they requested because I just cant afford anymore)

I hope mine works out just as well as yours has done! [:)]
