Hi
My IVA was approved on the 27th December 2007. I have just today had a letter from Eversheds advising that they have purchased my debit from MBNA.
Its a bit late isnt it ??

You will get that. I am nearly at the end of my IVA and I still get letters saying that my debt has been purchased by another agency. I just send the letters to my IP. Let them deal with them, after all that is what they are there for.

I agree that the best thing to do is forward the correspondence to your IP.

My meeting is on Friday, and I'm getting one letter or call per day from MBNA, I just keep advising my IP. She has said she isn't contacting them anymore, if they haven't got the message by now, then tough luck!!

For me, I am with DFD, it has been nothing but trouble. DFD do not answer letters, are as much help as a chocolate fire guard. They loose paperwork, and then put the blame on me saying I hadn't sent it in. To cap it all they are now saying that they might extend my period of repayments. I have faxed them another letter telling them in no uncertain terms what I think of their last letter and telling them what they should be doing.

But please don't let my bad experience with one particular firm put you off. There are some good firms out there who only have your best interest at heart.

I wish I had found this site sooner as well.

You can see my postings on here.

According to me I should be finished 2nd April.
Unfortunately as I was getting really happy about it all coming to an end, I have now been informed that I am to be made redundant. Ho hum.

Hi cr15py.
MBNA were my worst creditor by far, I ended up changing number number at home. But then they started sending little post cards saying they were going to call at home, which frieghtened me to death, the last card I received said they were going to call on Christmas Eve, but they never came. Just hold on in there only 2 more days to go. Then all the calls and post will stop. But they are truely the worst !!!

I had simular problems with MBNA, they kept on telephoning me. The way I dealt with it was by refusing to confirm my name and address, pointing out that they can say who the hell they are and that I have no way of confirming it. So if they want to contact me, to write to me. I then gave them my IPs address. When they said that they couldn't do that I just said tough, and put the phone down. They telephoned back and again asked me to confirm my name and address, and again I pointed out that I wasn't prepared to do so. I also pointed out that they are in breach of the Data Protection Act, each time they phoned I did that, they soon stopped. I adopted this tactic with all the creditors and the phone calls soon stopped.

With regards to keep on sending letters, I adopted the tactic in the beginning of sending them to my IP, but my IP got fed up, so I just send them back I had a standard letter which I put in each one, they usually enclose an envelope for a reply, but I didn't put any stamps on when I posted them back. Its strange that they soon stopped.

I have had holidays, I used the Sun offer every year so far and have had a great time. Had at least two or three holidays each year with the Sun offer. Mind you friends did help with collecting the tokens!! Can stand the Sun newspaper.

Not suffered too much. No don't have any family, i.e children.

I am courting again now though, after being widowed for over 8 years, and hope to marry again this year.

Although to be honest I recently found out that I would have been better going BR, especially as the debt wasn't actually mine, but my late wife's. But such is life.

I like that theory James. I have spoken to MBNA twice recently. The first time I told them politely that they needed to contact my IP (which they didn't!) The second time I answered by mistake and I just hung up on them (pretending I had lost signal!)

I don't answer their calls, not many people have my mobile number, and I only gave MBNA mine to stop them calling me at work! They do like the trick of calling me from a mobile number, but it's a different number every time!

Another tactic I adopted with one annoying creditor was to inform them that they no longer had my permission to ring my number. You see legally, they have to have your permission to ring you. Under the telecoms act, if you withdraw your permission, they are then breaking the law themselves. So when I pointed this out to the company concerned, and also informed them that I was going to report them to the relevant authorities and if necessary seek a court order that soon put the wind up them. Never would have gone to court mind you, couldn't afford it, but they are a pain in the rear end, and can cause un-neccessary suffering so I gave them back some grief.

Don't forget that this is AFTER the IVA had been agreed signed sealed and delivered etc. Would not have done it before hand as they might not have agreed to the IVA. So timing is all important.
