I opened one of these accounts as I thought no one else would give me one. Took 3 Weeks to get a card and then my wifes was refused even though mine worked. Have now opened an account with coop bank. Have an electron card which so far has been accepted everywhere, including on line.
I just withdrew all my cash chopped up the cards and sent them back.

Did they say anything about you sending the card back Miles? As soon as my Nationwide account is opened I'll be doing the same as you.

miles,r., keep a very watchful eye on your Co-Op account. They will close your account without warning if you are overdrawn 3 times even by 1 pence.

I found this out on another forum, Debt Questions.

Take care

Hi
Just a few points regarding Think Banking.
There is no doubt that their telephone service is poor and needs addressing because its been like that for a while now. With regard to paying in then you can use any Royal bank of Scotland branch and just give them details of your account[make sure that it is the salary account and not the card account].With regards to cheques I have found that most basic accounts take a while to clear a cheque[Woolwich is 5 days] just to ensure that you do no go overdrawn due to a bounced one. However anything over five days is ridiculous.
I have found that the automated balance via the phone is OK but think that they made a mistake in launching a card that yo are unable to get the balance from at a cash point.
We,ll all have to wait and see if things improve.......fingers crossed

Andy, when you say Royal Bank of Scotland does that mean that I can go into any Natwest? I totally agree with you about the balance thing as I really object to paying to get my balance, either by using the 0845 number or the text message service - it should be free and come out of the £12.50. I'm turning into a right cheapskate in my old age!

I didn't even know they had branches! Sadly there isn't one near me so I think I'll have to give up on this one!

Perhaps we should send them some suggestions - I'd have something a bit lively personally!
