im worried that if i make the call.. it might effect my budget for next month..

Next month is a biggie for work (and my band) - its so important to me that i manage July... I don't see considerable viability in taking the risk now, and c'mon - we can be as possitive as we like but my IP is going to hammer me one way or another.. I pay the absolute minimum.. i mean less than ive seen everyone else here paying.. i saw a post earlier, someone on 14k paying 450pcm?!?!?!?!?!

I litterally pay half that (225).. with almost double the salary i have a feeling they will tip me upside down and shake me lol..

Ive just had lunch, so thats not good..

Hey Ryan, I don't think there's anything else to say really. Make the call when you're ready but please keep us posted on the outcome, Viki X

I dont think it would be ammended that soon, but I take your point. I fear that you will get through July and then start to worry about Auguest,,, Sept, etc.

I am keen to know what happens too... dont keep us waiting too long, have a couple of tots and go for it..

If your that worried about calling your IP , fax your IP or write a letter.. you need to put when your pay rises happened etc.

You know yourself you have to do it sooner or later! every week you leave it,then it gets potentially worse!

I'm not great with budgeting, but I noticed that you mention running out of money for petrol. I used to have that problem, but I'm better now that I brought a pre paid Tuxedo Maestro card and load my petrol money on it each month. It keeps it totally seperate from my housekeeping and other 'allowances'.

hi ryan

first thing is, any jobs going? lol.
don't you get your expenses back for travellings etc?
i'd tell your ip asap. they might just bring your review forward. i can't see them having time to amend your next months figure straight away as they'll probably want payslips etc. so that will buy you time. the only thing you may have trouble with is if they increase your payment they might want it from when your pay increased.

i'm not very good at budgeting, i've got better at shopping cheaply. but have you anyone you can give some money to each month? we give my brother in law some money each month to hold onto and he gives us it back as and when we need it etc. for food and petrol. so that way we always know no matter how skint we are we can get to work and buy food.

good luck with it and let us know how you get on.

I was looking on a website the other day that compared all the loyalty cards....Morrisons came out best for their petrol card..it was more than double the points £ value of some of the other major supermarkets! :O)

and NO...I dont work for morrisons! lol

Ryan ... I know that this is probably not an appropriate answer in the bigger scheme of the IP world ... but sometimes an IVA can be viewed as a shorter term way of gaining control again of an out of control situation (spiralling) debt, to give you bit of breathing space to gather your thoughts on the best all round solution to your debt situation. As Melanie says, perhaps the answer here is to seize the opportunity to pay as much as you can in (with your incresaing earnings)so as to be able to free yourself of the IVA.

Skippy - its funny you mentioned that.. I average about 300.00 a month for fuel (need a more economic car tbh..) - so what i did was get the virgin pre-paid card and as of this month, im gonna load my fuel on.. that way its not a worry :D

Debbie, that would probably be the best idea.. your right - however if i do that i can't afford to work / live / etc.. Thats not viable for me unfortunately..

The morrisons card sounds good - shall check tat out thanks JpJ!!

thank you ALL for your advice and support keep the budgeting ideas coming - I can't seem to manage, how do you do it??

Ryan - So you live with your parents - you earn £28k with possibly more on the way - your debts are £17k.

Can I ask you honestly and genuinely just one question - are you at all serious about wanting ro clear your debts??? I assume you must take home at least £1700 per month ( + your band money)???). What do you spend it all on???

Get your head down - work your backside off for a few years and surely you could easily repay your Creditors in full?

And why are you so scared about contacting your IP - its not hard!!!! So many people on the forum are in a MUCH deeper hole - based on your figures - I just really dont understand your rationale.

Optomist...Ryan is scared of contacting his IP because he has held back many thousands of £s that should have gone into his IVA!!!

Im sure there arent many on here in his situation!

If I was in his shoes I would be s......g myself too![|)]

And I would agree with jpj AND Optimist! under the circumstances I would be a little concerned in contacting my IP if I had held back a significant amount money such as it would seem Ryan might have done ... and because Ryan's financial circumstances seem to have changed so significantly for the better (which is great) I would seize the opportunity to work hard to pay my IVA off, under the safety of the IVA umbrella, i.e the debt spiral situation having been controlled.

Hi
Ryan has been given the advice to contact his IP,this is the only way forward for him.The IP may not back date any payrise and only impose an increase in payments from the anniversery date.
A fresh income and expenditure will be taken into account and this should ensure a reasonable amount is available to live on.
We do not judge on this site however at the same time we do not encourage debtors to avoid paying what they can afford.
We are all agreed,I hope, that we borrowed it so we will try our best to repay it.
This thread has reached a conclusion in my opinion, there are some posts I am not happy with but will not delete on this occassion.
Regards
