Thanks everyone for the lovely comments. Here's the good news - my completion certificate came through today!!!! Actually I received an email with an attachment that had the completion certificate in it along with all the other documents yesterday. Amazing! My IVA finished officially on Friday 9th March and the completion certificate arrived in the post on Tuesday 13th March. My IP was The Debt Advisor Ltd and I highly recommend them as I've had no problems at all. Phew what a day! I've been for a long walk with my fab boyfriend - who has supported me over the last 4 years and my dog, who has also supported as I've often moaned about my situation to him and he's listened very carefully - looking at me as if I'm crazy but sat next to me on my sad nites in.
Good luck to everyone still in an IVA and to those post IVA folks on here. I will keep posting!!

Jasp

Oh the real reason for the walk was to post the 3 copies of the cc to the credit agency to sort my credit record out! The IP included the 3 copies for me to send along with the addresses...how fab was that? Made it really easy for me.

Keep a copy to send to any creditors who may have defaulted you during the iva. You will need to write to.them a out it as the agencies won't do it for you. The may mark the file as satisfied but you need them removing.

Wow... what a successful end to your IVA. I thought we had done well, getting out certifcate within 8 weeks, but 4 days with a weekend in the middle... amazing. Congratulations to your company for looking after you. Enjoy your debt free life and keep hold of that man of yours... and of course your dog. It must have been great to have had such support.

It is great to see my pal Beverley Budsworth, the owner of The Debt Advisor, getting a plug on the forum. That is incredibly good service and you must be so pleased to see the end of the road, and the start of a new debt free journey - very best of luck for the future, and enjoy one or two treats this month!

Thanks. I need a car as mine had to be sold as I didn't think it would pass the MOT. I'm a little impatient so emailed my bank to ask if there was any chance of an overdraft, the lad on the telephone said oh no not if you've been in an IVA.....!!! I guess even after paying my dues for 6 whole, long, arduous years I will still be seen as a risk. I understand that but he said I shouldn't even think about it until about 1 or 2 yrs time. I mentioned I paid a year extra on my IVA but he didn't seem to understand much about IVA's. I don't expect to be welcomed back to the financial world with open arms...but I don't expect that after all the sacrifrices etc I don't even get a chance.

I know I've just finished my IVA and received the completion certificate and I need to build up my credit file but how can u do that if no one gives you a chance. I earn in excess of £30k and in a few months time I will have the cash for the car I want but I need a car asap so going to buy a cheapie and then see what happens. Can't be doing with feeling like I'm begging someone for a high APR etc. Oh well at least my IVA has finished and I know I've paid as much as I could afford. Have a nice weekend everyoene.

Sorry - but the IVA will still show on credit reports -so dont expect to find getting credit easy at normal rates - it will take time to rebuld the credit file, try Moneybarn (although their interest is higher than normal rates) for the car
