Thanks for answers on previous question.

In an iva with accuma and been took over by grant thornton. had an accident in jan 10 and just had an offer of 3,500 plus 250 for sundries for my personal injury claim.

rang grant thornton and they want the lot!

owe parents approx 500 between them due to probs with car and car repairs, can i pay this to them - answer no -they want the lot

is this right? found them rude, unhelpful and wish we'd stayed with accuma.

any help would be appreciated, still in pain but grant thornton don't care

As an accident it should go towards, loss of earnings, repair car etc and whats left paid into IVA, as its classed as a windfall?

Best thing to do is to contact your IP direct and discuss or email and state your claim to some of the payment.

Usually, if you're paid out for personal injury then it should be yours to keep. However, if the payment included loss of earnings then this should be paid into your VA.

Speak with your actual IP if you can or write a letter outlining the expenses that you have had with your car. They do have the discretion to allow you to retain some of the funds to cover essential bills

Hi - you should be able to keep sufficient to cover any expenses in relation to the crash and injury. Just send the receipts to your IP as proof.

I'm with Grant Thornton and although I haven't had a personal injury claim I do find them very easy to deal with. They compromise with you, send them an email explaining your situation.

Was the injury claim for loss of earnings, or pain and suffering? If the latter, then you may find that you don't need to hand any of it over. I know the partners at Grant Thornton very well, so if you want me to have a word on your behalf please let me know.

Just following this thread with interst as im with GT too. They have been ok with me to be honest. I wanted to add...Melanie, you are a absolute star on here..the number of times i see you helping folk. I know there are plenty of others who help too but you, as they say in my neck of the woods are a 'diamond'
