I finally finished paying of my iva in April 2011,,in my final months was handed over to GT from BE..What a mess it has turned out to be,,some creditors were overpaid, and they are still trying to claw the money back from them,,so even distibution can be carried out,,i think 19 months is now taking the proverbial,,was promised a update end Oct,,and here we are swinging into November and all i hear is deathly silence from them..I wrote a letter of complaint to the person above the supervisor, that to must have fell on deaf ears as well,,,never been so fed up in all my life, this must be a record for people waiting for there papers,,,

Hi Christine,

This really is a ridiculous situation you find yourself in. I can't really offer any advice but hopefully by keeping this bumped up maybe Melanie will be along later and can offer some assistance in the matter.

Have you emailed the closures team @ GT? It may be time to escalate by following GT's complaints procedure.

Hi

Again this is simply appalling, 19 months to close your IVA..think this is the current record

GT may be a well respected company but someone within the organisation needs to get hold of this unacceptable problem and sort it.

The "regulators" also need to sort these totally unacceptable closure delays

Christine53, you have been poorly treated and should wtite the the IP dealing with your IVA

I have written to all but the top boss,,maybe thats the next step,,but i fear all they will say is "it takes time to get the money back from the creditors". I worked so hard to pay this of, working a 72 hr week so i basically doubled my payments, and here i am more stressed out than when i was paying,,,

Hi Christine. What you need do now, is to make a formal complaint, through their internal complaints procedure. If this goes nowhere withing a reasonable time frame, then you can refer the matter to their regulating body and / or the financial ombudsman.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Hi

Why should you have to wait for an error made by the previous company to be corrected and how can this take close to two years ?

Have you written to the IP and received a reply ?

I did write a formal complaint to Mark Allen the supervisor, all i got back was sorry for the delay,it takes time to recover monies blah blah,,your paperwork is ready and so on,,and he promised me a update by end of Oct,so how does one get in touch with the regulating body,,i,m going to phone once more tomorrow and after that its war,,,,

A terrible story and I hope its not all the same for everyone. But I do think its a bit much when we all started the IVA time was always critical, you had to delliver information, sign certain documents and so on but when it comes to completing the goal posts suddenly change-funny that !!!!

When you speak to them, Christine, ask for the name and address of their regulating body -- they will give you the details.

Financial Ombudsman's details can be found here: http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/c ... index.html

That's a dreadful story Christine.

If you want to go round and thump someone I'm sure that there will be a queue of posters behind you offering to hold your coat!!!

I hope you get this sorted very soon.

Here is someone else in the same boat as me. Same excuse and same length of time. We were also passed over to GT at tithe later stage of our iva ,always paid on time and thought at the end of 5 years we would be totally clear.

This is terrible!

I think that nearly all of us who entered into an IVA had an expectation that after 5 years that we would be free to move on with our financial lives but this at the moment is clearly not the case!

My thoughts go out for you Christine and I hope that they can resolve this quickly for you.
7 years after starting an IVA I finally received a completion certificate from ClearDebt
