Thanks guys doing it as a single parent with a teen boy was hard but if anything it’s made him appreciate money now as well he got himself a little job and started saving it made me a better parent and hopefully made him see nothing is for free
Great that he has learned from your problem. Foggy became a single parent in his IVA and came out the other side.

Came out the other side of the IVA, Kallis. Still stuck with a young, soon to be, teen though

Hi Hun it may seem hard at some points I found year 3 and 4 the hardest for some reason but if I can give you any advice is plan plan plan and budget I am not ashamed to say I went to supermarket late at night and sundays about 330 to see what yellow stickers I could get me and my son had a jar in the kitchen with written treats in we would pick one when I got paid and I would factor all that into my monthly budget so we would go with out some other things non essential we found all this fun and we built a fab relationship doing it all I can say is good luck and remember there is a lot of free things to do with kids which shocked me
You can also do online surveys to fund Christmas etc as I did, an still do.

Yeah I found them great but if I am honest whilst in the Iva I had some of the best Christmas ever stripped back no expense but I am keeping all this the same we didn’t miss the piles of gifts which is one of reasons I ended up in a mess but dusting off the old board games so much fun whilst the Iva is restricted to how you spend it doesn’t stop you living
I hate board games! All the family have vouchers every birthday and Christmas. We now spend Christmas on our own, do not exchange presents or cards and watch either Sky or some DVD's we have.

Ha ha ha I thought I did till now lol but they made so much fun lol we still went to family but it was so different we didn’t participate in the hoopla that Christmas brings the whole expense but the family got my son vouchers for cinema bowling and that so he could still hang with his mates that helped a
Lot
I think, generally, not just Christmas, an IVA gets you to reconnect to reality in things far beyond finances -- it is like a life reset button ( at least it was for me). Finances and life became so much more simpler (is that english?) .... dealing with cash instead of plastic is far easier and more satisfying -- knowing that what you have just bought is actually paid for !

Foggy yeah your right my whole life changed if that makes sense my family offered to pay it off in year one they wanted to use their own savings to help me but I said no this was my mess I needed to wake up I won’t be going back there but it has helped me a lot
Good for you! We much prefer Christmas on our now.
