my daughter has been diagnosed with cancer, and I will get a lump sum from her work, will I be allowed to pay funeral bills and any of her expenses from this, or will it have to go into my iva.
Why will you be getting this lump sum ---- is it not hers ? I would have thought that this should be regarded as money for her expenses and, ultimately, funeral, and that you are the trustee ---- it depends on the terms of the payout as well as the view of your IP.

thank you foggy. does this means when she dies, I can give any inheritances ie her children out of this money, and pay all or any of her bills. I am so upset I just cant thing straight, but I know she will want some of this money given to her children
If this is hers then she can do what she wants with it.

The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.

As long as this money was paid to her, or to her estate, it is her money to be distributed as she wishes. If the money was payable to you, as is often the case with, for instance, life insurance policies where the beneficiary is named (often next of kin) then you would have to speak to your IP.
It is, I can imagine, a very upsetting thing to have to deal with, but your IVA should not impact at all on her finances.
