Hello

I finished Iva last September and completion certificate received.
This morning I got a letter asking for a payment for an account that was in my Iva. What do I do?

Contact them and explain you have completed. It could be an admin mistake.

Send a copy of your completion cert to them, by recorded, signed for, delivery. If after that they still persist in contacting you keep a diary record of all their calls and letters etc. Refuse to answer any 'security' questions they ask when phoning you, state you have sent the CC and will not engage with them further, hang up. After 4 attempts to contact you once the CC has been sent and you have confirmation it was signed for you have a right to report them to the police for harassment, that being a criminal offence you are within your right to push for a conviction under current legislation and even claim compensation.

These demands are usually issued in error and sometimes as a try on ! Just inform them that the debt was inclusded in an IVA which has now concluded --- they might want to see a copy of your completion certificate and final report. They cannot actually pursue you for any money.

With respect Merlin, I doubt the police would do anything.

You are reporting a criminal offence, the police will deal with it believe me.

As an ex officer and knowing how resources are these days I doubt they would bother.
