Hi,
My husband and I have been in an IVA with Harrington brooks since Feb 2012. We have made our last payment on 6th April 2018 and finally reached the end. Harrington Brooks were taken over by freeman jones at this point and so now our IP is FJ. We have been patient and made numerous calls and sent emails asking about the notice of final implementation but the response is slow and poor just saying we need to wait at least 6months. We are now 5months in and nothing. I have checked the insolvency register and land registry and nothing has changed. All PPI claims were made in the few years and show in the annual summaries as complete. All funds have been distributed according to the last review papers in April.
I just can’t understand the delay and feel very anxious about getting the NOFI. Like anyone who has been through the process we just want to move forward; get a proper bank account, remortgage to a better deal and out this whole chapter behind us. Harrington Brooks were fantastic and always called back, answered questions and replied to emails but suddenly with Freeman jones now I can’t even speak to anyone in completions team and get conflicting dates and information.
Could anyone offer advice of to what we can do please
Thanks

Most IVA agreements allow for 6 months before the issue of the certificate, but, of course, in many cases it is shorter. This "Admin period" can also be extended, as per the agreed terms, usually twice; once by 6 months and once by three, on giving prior notice.

Once the 6 months has passed, and in the absence of notice to extend, you can lodge a formal complaint to FJ which you can escalate to their regulatory body, via the Government Gateway, if need be.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I was with freeman Jones, finished 2 years ago.
By the sound of it they are going down the pan.
They used to answer phone calls promptly, they were curtious to a point,
Now it sounds like the are trying to be one of the big boys on the insolvency world.Too many clients not enough staff.
Mind you they are part of the THINK MONEY Group so that tells a story in its self
Today 1st of December 2016 the vultures finally flew away

Hi Sam342,

I am part of the team here at Freeman Jones - thanks for the post.

I am sorry that you haven't had your Completion Certificate yet. We inherited a backlog of completions from Harrington Brooks and we are working as quickly as we can to clear it. We absolutely do understand that when customers' IVAs come to an end they are anxious to "move on" as quickly as they can.

If you drop me an email to ian.williams at FreemanJones.co.uk then I will ask one of the team to give you a call with an update.

I hope this helps,

Ian

Thanks for be help,
I’ve emailed the FJ representative today so hopefully we may get some clarity and even a certificate shortly.....everything crossed for an end point so the next chapter can begin and this can all be a distant memory and a lesson learnt. I suspect (knowing our luck) we finished at exactly the wrong time during the take over and have been lost somewhere in the transition.
Thanks again to everyone and I shall keep you all posted with an update

I have been in IVA with Freeman Jones since Feb 2013 so nearing the end. I have found them helpful and easy to contact without exception. I hope this is how I find them going into the final months.

So the update as of today....
Danny from Freeman jones called-as promised following the intervention on this thread by Ian Williams. He was brilliant. Apologised and was honest saying they have a heavy backlog since the transition. He assured me he had our file personally and our certificate would be with us in two weeks. He even asked if we wished to make a formal complaint. I declined trying to remain patient and understanding.
Two weeks is up tomorrow. Today I checked the insolvency register and both my husband and I are still there. I assume this means the certificate can’t possibly be through our door as promised tomorrow.
I felt totally elated when we were suddenly contacted From this thread And good to their words email and phone contact in 24hrs. Now back to square one. I wouldn’t mind but danny was the one offering the two week time frame.
Still sat feeling total despare.
I will post again with updates as I’m sure we’re not alone.
Thanks for asking

You could be on the register for up to 3 months from completion.

As Kallis says -- once the completion certificate is issued you will remain on the Insolvency Register for a further 3 months. But you will be able to tell it has arrived with them as the arrangement will then show as completed.

Thank you-it’s useful to know how it all works. I have checked and that doesn’t show and no certificate in the post as promised this morning. I shall give it a little extra time and remain patient.
