You can get a cheap Pay as you go - won't affect anything. If you have been accepted for a contract, as long as you can afford it you should be ok.

You should be OK getting a phone contract, but I doubt it will be added to your expenses as already agreed -- so will have to be funded from your current allowances, or, as you say, your share of overtime ( I assume you are correctly advising your IP as and when you get overtime and paying over the IVA's share).

In relation to this, can I ask the experts: some phone companies now do the phone contract as two parts, so much for minutes, so much for the device and you are technically signed into a loan. Some phones are £500+ which leads me to the credit limit query, is this acceptable? My contract is with a network where I pay one figure, no loan mentioned, and is only a cheapie android, but if I went to O2 (who I can get a work discount with) their contracts seem to include a loan so you can repay and upgrade at a whim during the contract. Hope that makes sense.

I don't think this would be a problem as such --- some monthly payment car insurance is actually a credit agreement and those premiums can be quite eye watering. However, you would have to first pass the phone providers credit checks as well as shoulder any increase in monthly payments for the upgraded package from existing allowances.

Another question im already paying 20 a month on my iva for a phone so technically iv only raised it by 15 pound a month more would this also work in my favour as its only an increase of 15 pounds more a month than what they already know about?

I doubt the IP will agree to increase the phone allowance already agreed (especially as it appears to be for a phone that doesn't exist!). You will need to pay the £15 extra from already agreed allowances.

I doubt he would fail you for getting a phone contract. If you are not claiming any extra expenses ( allowances) for it I doubt he would even notice.

Why put yourself through the stress?

Just get a cheaper phone.
