I believe others in an IVA had got student loans --- it is generally acceptable to the IP because they do not have to be repaid during the life of the IVA, but you would have to discuss this with your own IP.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
I had a student loan in my IVA. I was a part-time student so my student loan was for fees only which got paid directly to my collegege, I didn’t get any maintenance loans etc, not sure if that makes any difference or not!
IVA completed (with funds paid to date) 4th October 2017.......Completion certificate received 23rd December 2017
If you are in an iva and want to apply for a student loan I presume you are still able to meet your monthly repayments for your iva through paid employment and any studies you are doing are in addition to work ?
Sharing from experiences of dealing with debt
There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !
I began my iva 11 months ago and 2 months into that I left my job and became a full time student, with an NHS bursary and student loan. I made Knightsbridge aware of this straight away and because I could still meet my payments and there wasn't a significant change they were absolutely fine with it. The student loans company do not require a credit check so you'll be fine in obtaining a loan. Good luck.
