I'm currently in an iva and my husband transfers money each month into my account to cover his contribution to household bills. This month he has transferred it to my old bank account which is part of my iva. The account is currently frozen. Is the money likely to be accepted or will it bounce back to my husbands account. Without that money we aren't going to be able to pay the remaining bills until next payday. Any advice would be great. Thanks

It will possibly just sit in the dormant account. The bank are not allowed to offset this against the debt in the IVA and should return it when asked.

I have the same problem. My friend transferred some money she owed me into my old account as that was on her payee list before I entered into an iva and obviously didn't know I had changed bank accounts. I called Barclays and they couldn't access the account because it was dormant so I have to fill in a form and send it to Barclays at Leicester to see if the money is there and then they will return it to my friend. Hope you get sorted.

My company did the very same thing with my salary one month. Accidentally paid to my old account.

I was both livid and panicked...

However, it was Lloyds TSB (the frozen account) and they bounced it back to my company. It was pretty quick actually, I think a day or 2.

If you owe money to the bank where the account is frozen, they cannot accept any payments outside the IVA I think.

My guess is it will bounce back, but try to contact the bank where the account is frozen.
One pay-cheque away from oblivion!
